If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I only see four. I see a couple things that people with big imaginations might think they see more. If there is a fifth one I'd like to know where it is.

I have never found more than 4 for sure. And I've looked at this picture multiple times over the last 2 or 3 years. There is a spot to the left where there "might" be a piece of one poking out from under the leaves, kinda like the one in the lower left, but it is such a small spot that I think it is just wishful thinking.

That copperheads on the tree are definitely giving me the eebeejeebees  .... i thought one was enough from the first photo but I see definitely 4 now - tricky one is bottom right corner in leaves... to the left on tree trunk is an area as ZZ noted as not clear - I thought it may be a 5th but because resolution is not very clear it may just be bark with almost similar spotting but it is blurry when enlarged!! I think 4 is enough for me anyway ... BTW - the bite of the small ones is pretty bad as I had read they can’t regulate the amount of venom as well  ...

The mannequin is quite funny  - was that from Sears - no wonder they are going under  ...

The #5 snake Dimitri labeled is exactly the one I mentioned as the 5th possibility but it was not exactly clear when I enlarged it (left side of the trunk & noted perhaps bark with similar spotting) ::nod:: ... I know one thing I would not put my hand there to see if it was real ::woot::

I don't think so. You can see them a little more clearly if you mess with the Gamma Brightness and increase the focus and image size. Unfortunately AAPK decreases the image size but you can increase it by holding down the Ctrl key and rolling the wheel on your mouse forward. Sorry Ray, no snake where you've indicated.

Makes me curious how many more there were on the OTHER side of the tree.

I didn't even think about that Ken   ... Up here in the New England we do have a few copperheads but not like down south.. very few rattlers either - there may be a timber rattler but believe they are endangered and rare ... and definitely no water moccasins - water moccasins would definitely get me crazy as I would have to give up fishing  .. Actually I fished down in the bayou in Louisiana once - and we jumped off the boat on to an island to relieve ourselves at one point -- when the guide said look out for the cotton mouths I was back on the boat in no time ::nod:: ... He did have some slang name for cotton mouths that I don't remember but he said they can be aggressive ::uc:: ...

We don't have copperheads in SoCal. They are too afraid of the Mojave Greens... ::tounge::

I learned a long time ago not to doubt anything Dimitri says, but I'm really not seeing number five.

There are no snakes on the other side of the tree. It's common knowledge around here that copperheads only grow on the South side of trees.

Changing the subject.

Anybody have an idea who this WWII era Marine Reservist might be?

She's tall. About 5' 10 or 11"

Did they wear seer-sucker uniforms during WWII?

Supposedly it's Bea Arthur although in a filmed interview she denies having been in the Corps and yet there is evidence that she was. ::shrug::

I saw the photo on FaceBook yesterday.

It does look vaguely like Bea Arthur to me, but Sarah says it doesn't look anything like her.

Wikipedia says she served, but as Bernice Frankel.

Why would she lie about honorable service during WWII? Did she swing so far to the left that she considered military service to be detrimental to her career?

A Time Magazine article, published after she died in 2009, states, in part:

"Though it’s unclear why she denied ever serving, it may have been to cover up her one count of misconduct — due to contracting a venereal disease — in 1944. Arthur was honorably discharged in 1945."

And there is this: https://suburbanbanshee.wordpress.com/2 ... -a-marine/
