Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Great job of catching the colors of my favorite time of year!
We'll start getting color here in South Jersey in a couple of weeks.
Temps and colors are near perfect from about Oct 15 - Nov 15.
Too cold for the grass to grow, so no mowing. Too warm for it to snow, so no shoveling!!
Take care and God bless,
Steve

Absolutely fantastic Dave. I lived just south of Cleveland Oh for about 11 years and this is the only thing I miss from up there. Autumns were amazing.

Back in 2007 a bulk ore ship the Pasha Bulker was washed ashore, just north of my home.

Wow! That's wild. It's hard to understand how a big, modern ship, with all the technology & navigation gear can let itself run aground. It's not like the Australian continent suddenly appeared overnight when the captain wasn't looking!

The ship was about 5 mile off the port of Newcastle, to pick up a load of coal to go to China.TwoFlowersLuggage wrote: ↑Fri Sep 25, 2020 5:39 am Wow! That's wild. Coming from China empty, the ship was full of sea-water for ballast.
Wile waiting to be called into port, the ship pumped all the water ballast out of the hull.
The Port Authority told all shipping, waiting off shore - A big storm was heading up the East Coast, in about 12 hours.
The Authority, toll all the ships to "up anchor and head well out to sea".
With no ballast, the Pasha Bulker's rudder and propellers were almost out of the water.
The ship had no means of moving out to sea, or steering.
The Big Storm came and washed the ship, up onto one of our beaches... Ken

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
That was very interesting! I watched one of the videos showing Svitzer Salvage refloat the ship, it appears it took a month or so to catch the tides just right to swing the bow around so it could be towed to deep water.
Thanks for sharing that with us Koldgold! Ken, you actually explained why the ship actually ran aground. That was never explained in the video.

As always bighomer, fine photos. I'm thinking your dragonfly may give some heart attacks to passing birds.
