Did anyone notice?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Did anyone notice?

Post by jerryd6818 »

That Bryan has increased the number of posts per page to 60?

I never counted them before but they probably weren't more than 20 posts per page. ::shrug::

I believe you're right Jerry. I did notice the other day that the pages seemed longer but I assumed that it was because of pictures and long entries.

You're probably right, Ferg.

Not complaining. It's just going to take a little getting used to. Not much but a little.

Increasing the number of posts per page does a couple of things - it reduces the load on the network & servers because there will be fewer requests for page 2+, and every page load fetches not only the list of posts but also all the graphics and other doodads on the page. It also speeds up your browsing because you don't have to wait for page 2 to load. The only thing it doesn't do is give you the false satisfaction of "finishing" a page of posts quicker - but you will finish what was previously 2 pages of posts quicker than before!

The What Are You Carrying Right Now thread went from 2483 pages to 622, I believe. What's the math on that? ::shrug::

If it's currently 60 posts per page, it used to be 15. 😉👍

Now that I’ve used the new expanded number of posts per page for a while, I need a “Return to top of this page” button at the bottom (after the last post on the page) so I can quickly get off that page without having to manually scroll back to the top. On short pages it’s not a problem but on pages having 30+ posts it’s a PITA. ::uc::

I know, picky picky picky. ::facepalm::

Ken
Ken, there's a small Return To Top Of Page button on the lower right corner of every post and a large one in the lower right corner of the page with an up arrow in a dark circle.

The page numbering system has changed again. The first cup diner has gone from 600 odd pages to 937. :)

With the higher number of posts per page, my only wish would be that the newest post is on top, oldest on the bottom. ::pray::
