The house next to the place where my great-Grandmother used to live (now owned by my great-aunt) was built by a guy in Texas. He had lived there even before my great-grandmother passed away in 2010; but moved out sometime back (he had operated an alpaca farm), and apparently the people who bought it recently were from California.

During the gas wars in the 70’s gas was .19 cents a gallon. I could fill up my VW Beetle for $1.90 and drive all week. Ah, the good old days eh?

BTW you wouldn’t believe the number of vehicles here having Kalifornia license plates. They’re everywhere, and they ain’t here for vacation. They’re moving here in droves. ::woot::

Unfortunately. I’m worried they don’t realize the reasons they left - high cost of living, high taxes and heavy-handed burdensome regulation - are because of people and policies they voted for. The reasons they came here - low cost of living, lower taxes, fewer regulations are because of the people and policies Texas has voted for.

Plus the fact Texas’ founding fathers were smart enough to stipulate the state legislature is only in session for 90 days once every two years, after which the elected representatives have to go back home and make a living like everyone else. Unless the Governor calls a special session the legislature doesn’t convene again until after the next election. (The less government the better. If they’re not in session they can’t screw things up).

Caifornia has the highest fuel cost in the USA, mostly because of California Taxes, however, in Gorda California located in Monterey County, California, prices have reached a new level.
The price of regular unleaded gas at this station in Gorda hit $7.59 on Thursday as gas prices jump across the country to a 7-year high.

The Gorda station is known to have some of the highest prices in the country. The next nearest station is 12 miles away. The price of premium hit $8.50 at this central coast station.
If I were to pull in here and fill up my Toyota Camry or Honda Ridgeline pick up, (which would be foolish) it would cost be approximately $140.00 each. ::teary_eyes::
Below is a picture of the Gas Station in Gorda.

Gorda Gas 1.jpg
President Biden joined CNN for a televised town hall on Thursday night and said that he does not foresee any significant drop in prices in near future.

A twelve-pack of Budweiser in Gorda costs nearly $15, and a small coffee at the general store is more expensive than at the average Starbucks.

The cost of regular unleaded gas nearest to me is $4.09 per gallon.

Unleaded regular is running about $2.89 to $2.91 on average here in central Texas, although there are obviously stations in more rural areas where the prices are higher due to the nature of small town convenience stores.

I saw $5.09 now in Grant County Indiana today and I'm sure that's not the end of it. Guess we should buy bicycles before the price of them skyrocket. Lord help us all!

I'm seeing a lot of $4.49 here in central Texas. It was "only" $2.90 (avg) back on 22 Oct 2021 at the same stations, a 54.8% increase.

Down to $3.70 but to be expected as elections are coming up. I believe after that the prices will get way higher.

Gas is expensive enough, but the other day I got a jolting dose of reality when I had to price a new set of tires for the car. HOLY CRAP! Been quite a few years since I bought a full set of tires, and that is getting outrageous. Even though they're small tires for a small car the price was large.
