Any Train Enthusiasts Out There?

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

I did want to share this pic that I ran across while reading up on Erie Railroad. I would love to have been around when scenes like this were commonplace. I only have vague memories of the last few years of steam locomotives.

Very cool shot, Ike! I think I read/saw somewhere recently that Erie ran Allegheny type (2-6-6-6) steamers pulling long coal drags. It would be amazing to see one of those in person, but I would imagine WMSR 1309 Mallet (2-6-6-2) is a close match. I think your picture is of a Mikado (2-8-2) or a Santa Fe (2-10-2) type.

Thank you, David and Bruce. Those are the first I had taken in a while, I had a little time today, and got lucky with some trains on the move. You guys have been posting some good stuff, glad I was able to join in.

Hello train fans,

Here is a cool link to click through. Especially like the first two links within this link. The list of former train lines could be good for researching things. ::hmm:: Wikipedia did all the work for us, and I just Googles the stuff.

Tom, I was looking at the Defunct Railroad list, and the Cumberland and Pennsylvania is on it. We happen to have a picture in our dining room of The Narrows and the caboose is a Cumberland and Pennsylvania bobber. Also, the Western Maryland Depot in Frostburg was a C&P station. 😎👍

::tu:: I really like looking at that list. There are some 16 R/R's listed as WM R/R systems + the Mount Savage Railroad that also went from Frostberg into Cumberland down at the bottom of the list. Still want to do some more reading in that list of links over the weekend. Very interesting to me. ::nod::

Very cool pictures you have there! I really like those! ::nod:: I'd like to find something like that too. With WM or Cumberland R/R's on them. That would be cool. If you run across any good looking (inexpensive)-(few-$) post cards or pictures on WM or Cumberland R/R systems, the Cumberland Station, the "2-6-6-6" or anything about Cumberland or WM you think I might be interested in when your out & about doing train stuff you could grab one for me. I'd gladly reimburse you for your costs. ::nod:: ::handshake::
