Good very late evening/early morning to all. It's currently 63 degrees, and we're on the way to 79/55, it seems. Had a productive day yesterday, with runs to Tractor Supply and ALDI and meeting a friend from the other forum I frequent. Probably won't be doing a whole lot today, though. Hope everyone has a great day, and see you again soon!

Good Sunday Mornin' to the FCD Patrons.
Been up a while, got the coffee made and spent a few minutes watching some deer in the front yard before Miss Joy took her dogs out. Alway a thrill to watch them, no mater how many times I see them!
Beautiful critters and tasty, too!
66 degrees this fine clear morning, got to 89 yesterday, almost a typical summer day except it ain't officially summer yet.
Church in a couple of hours, boneless venison chops, steamed broccoli and angel hair pasta for dinner. Then the proverbial Sunday afternoon nap, with golf on the TV.
Y'all have a great day!

Good Morning FCDers. Mostly sunny/64 going to 90.
Went to a Mexican restaurant for supper yesterday. The food quality was uneven; some excellent, others much less so. But the Corona beer always suits me.
Nothing special today.
peace & health

Good morning. It appears to be a beautiful day heading for us up here in the North Woods. I'm not sure if my back and legs are going to let me sit through a church service this morning. We'll see how well the pain meds do. I'd love to get to a grandson's grad party later today too, even just for a show up and leave but we'll see. The homeowner we are building the next house called Friday and asked if I could stop at the building site today and see some changes they have made in the prints. I already have the outside walls laid out on the bottom plates but we haven't built the walls yet so it's not a big deal to change them now. I'm just glad they told us before we built it. I gotta run. Have a good Sunday.____Dave

Holy cats! We should change the name of FCD to Geezer land with all the chills & pills & crippling around (me included).
We're only supposed to get to 85 deg. today & I'm just fine with that. Cubs are currently on the West Coast so I'll end up staying up later than normal. Oh well. This too shall pass.

Howdy friends sleeping late and lollygagging around this morning. Homer better let up on that whip about 11:00 so they can get lunch fixed for you.
Going up to my brothers after while. Grilling burgers. 73-84 and a chance of thunder storms. Happy trails!

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good morning. When I left yesterday to go over to talk to the homeowner of the next project house, I left my chickens out in the yard. Jane was home but in the house, and I wasn't gone long. Something came in and killed three of my best laying hens and my main rooster. Whatever it was left piles of feathers, so they didn't grab one and run like fox and brush wolves do. These hens were more pets than livestock and loved to be wherever I was in the yard and run to great me when I walked out the door. That leaves me with only three of the laying hens and a few banties. I have no idea what took them, but the few I have left are confined to the barn until I can get healthy enough to build new fences. The old ones got pulled down with the heavy wet snow last winter. It's been a tough Spring in way too many ways and I'm tired and beyond discouraged. I have a chiropractor appt this morning, a PT appointment tomorrow morning and another chiropractor appt Wednesday. I'm hoping this coming week goes a little better.____Dave

Good morning FCD colleagues:
My son-in-law seems to be improving… he’s still in ICU, but is off the ventilator, alert and able to walk around.
He’s in for a long rehab after all the infection and pneumonia, but we are all so grateful he survived.
Thank you for continued prayers.
I’m off for a trip to the dump today… been working on a basement project and have lots of construction residue to take there,
Lots like another warm day on tap… and we need some rain.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Mornin folks. Dave, I'm sorry about trouble you are having with your chickens. A game camera might helpful but it would mean you have to let 'em out of the barn. Could be a hawk? Owl maybe? Hard to see how one of them could kill 4 of the chickens. Maybe a badger? Anyways, I hope you solve the mystery and are able to dispatch the critter.
Nothin' much going on here. Temperature is 67º and going to the high 80s or low 90s.
Hope you all have a fine day today.
Ray

Re: First Cup Diner!
Good Mornin', Folks.
Dave, sorry to read about you chickens. It would be interesting to know what sort of critter was responsible for this.
Jim, great news concerning your son-in-law! Keep us posted on his progress here and the Upper Room.
Our church is having Vacation Bible School this week, it began last evening. We're too old to be actively involved but have agreed along with several other older folks to be in attendance. The theme is a medieval time with Lords, Ladies, Knights, a Jester and such. They fed them well, are teaching them some new songs about Jesus. Very loud for old ears, but well worth it for the youngsters. Back in the old days VBS was usually held during the day, now I suppose now too many young mothers work outside the homes it is not an option for VBS during the day at our church.
Plans are for us to entertain our youngest grandson tomorrow. Our son has a business lunch in Pensacola tomorrow, so he'll be with us most of the day. Wish we had some peas ready to pick in the garden, it would be a good lesson for him.
Our full moon was beautiful last night, the temperature this morning dropped to 63 back in the high 80's probably during the early afternoon. Not looking for any fronts only sea breeze, afternoon showers, maybe.
Let's go drink the 1st cup! Y'all have a good day.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Sad news about Dave's chickens. I know they can have their own personalities. My thoughts turned to rogue dogs. Perhaps turn a hose on the ground; good and wet even muddy so tracks might be left.
Good to hear that your son-in-law is making progress, Jim.
Sunny, mostly clear, warm. Loving this weather.
Driving miss Daisy today, as my sister puts it. Therapy and a visit to her transition center.
Don't know the cause but my shifter and transmission are performing as tho they have returned to their youth. After years of smooth-click, click-shifting a certain "notchiness" had developed. Shifting was still good but its old precision was fading. Then, yesterday, it performed as in days of yore: precise, smooth, click-click. I enjoy driving especially making precise shifts. I will certainly enjoy this development as long as it lasts. Move over Ferrari, look out Lamborghini.
peace & health

Dave, sorry to hear that you lost your chickens.
Especially since they were more of a pet than livestock. Hope you can find out what happened so to prevent it from happening again. Game camera is a great idea.

Good Morning to all you fellow Diners. Going to be 85 today. Yesterday again failed to produce the predicted thundershowers.
I must now log in whenever I want to enter the AAPK site. This has happened in the past.
Used the house air-conditioner yesterday primarily to remove excessive humidity.
The abundance of Red-Winged Blackbirds remains impressive. I'm glad they find the neighborhood conducive to raising their young.
May your Tuesday be a good one.

Re: First Cup Diner!
Mornin' guys and gal. May is statistically our wettest month of the year and we had a nice month for that. The corn hereabouts is 'high as an elephants eye'. This month will be hot and dry for the most part. I am going to do a show in Taylor this weekend. It has evolved into very mediocre show but it is close to home.
Hope you all have a dandy day.

Good morning. I'm off to PT this morning and may work some this afternoon. I got some done yesterday after the chiropractor appt. yesterday and Jason and Megan started building walls. The chickens are still on lockdown and aren't complaining too much. They seem traumatized and aren't all that anxious to go outside. We are in for a week of very nice, pleasant weather so I'm hoping to get some stuff done around here and at the job site. Have a good Tuesday.____Dave
