SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

::handshake:: Thanks Dan!
It's his best OMG impression. 😲
If all goes as planned, I'll be showing him in Colorado in a few days, June 25th-27th.

I used to do it myself but stopped several years ago, in favor of keeping them well trimmed. I noticed the nail on the dew claws were getting worn which made me realize they were being used somehow. ::shrug:: Don’t really know why I did it. A couple of years ago a friend who trains Labs sent me that video. Then I decided I was really smart!

The Akbash dog has dew claws for a good reason. In fact he has double dew claws.

Ken
One time I had a pup with only one rear dew claw on one hind leg and I named him "Un Toe Más" which phonetically sounds like the Spanish version of Thomas (Tomás) but it literally translates to 'One more toe'. ::facepalm::

LA, WOW! Having a champion dog must reflect tremendous commitment. Congratulations. ::handshake::

From the sublime to the ridiculous. Did you ever see the movie Best In Show? Its a favorite comedy of mine. But I have no idea what a serious breeder would think of it.

Thanks! I haven't seen that one QS but I love comedy. I'll have to get back to you when I do. ::tu::
I have bred certain dogs but am not a breeder of dogs. ::hmm:: Let me try to explain...
Most any serious dog breeder will have long-term breeding strategies that may utilize upwards of 40 individuals whilst I only maintain a few good recipes for posterity.
My brindle, on his seventh calendar year, has never been bred. My recent litter was produced from an eight year old stud, none of which were sold. Quality takes a lot of time and patience.
I hope this gibberish made sense.

Great pics and critters all. Thanks for sharing.

Ken,

a few pages back you showed your Akbash.
I have from what I am told as obviously now a papered dog, that mine is a mixed breed of 4 sheepdog and she like almost identical to you dog. Same hairy doughnut tail as I call it and face looks like a white lab with mouth closed.

Elsa is 10 months now and towers over my other large mutt. Maremanno-Aburezze Sheepdog, Great Pyrenees, Anatolian and Akbash from what I am told. Parents are gigantic. They really do look very similar in my opinion regardless of whatever the actual breeds are.

Hard to get a good picture of her tonight. Try to get one later.

Does look like an Akbash Dog, Jerry. Has the big dew claws on her legs too. Yours has a feminine head. Here’s more pictures of “Big Dog”. When the Labs go for a swim he runs along the bank and barks. Wants to play but he won’t get any more than his feet wet!

Great looking Best Friends everyone! ::tu:: ::nod::

Congrats LA! ::handshake:: Great looking dog! ::super_happy::

I haven't had much money left over for knives the last few weeks and I won't have much money left over for knives the next few weeks either. Been saving up for a new family member. ::nod:: ::super_happy::

Her name is Amy. (We will probably ::hmm:: keep the name.) We haven't seen her in person yet because she is a three hr. drive away. We will probably go to pick her up the last weekend in Aug. She is a Heinz-57 mix so who knows what she'll look like when she grows up but my guess is she will look like her mom who is in one of the pictures. ::shrug:: In the group picture, Amy is at 6 P.M.

I sure hope my Buddy Jake will enjoy our new addition to the family. ::uc:: We will see. ::shrug::

Thanks for looking! ::handshake:: More pictures as I get them or after we pick her up. ::tu:: ::nod::

Tom and Loose Arrow, wonderful little puppies!

Here's one I took of Bluegrass a little while ago. I was watching a video (a MotorWeek retro review, I think), and apparently it bored him to sleep.

Dan, at least he kinda sleeps normal!

Here’s Bobbie Sue. Such a bizarre little creature.
