In the morning the boys and I are planning on taking Miss Sally to the woods and see if she can’t accidentally bump into a squirrel.
I thought I’d share this old hound hunter hack with y’all. It might come in handy if you ever have a pup out in the field sometime.
Hunting bred pups, no matter how well trained, often don’t want to be caught when out in the rough with all the new smells and game about, especially if they think you’re going to put them up.
You can hook a long check cord to them to help catch them, but ropes, etc get tangled in the brush and fences. Sooooo, take a long piece of string trimmer line, tie a snap to it, and hook it to the dog’s collar. It won’t get tangled in the brush and you can get hold of the dog while you’re training.
Works like a charm. It helps if it’s a bright color, but this is all I have at the moment.
