SHOW US YOUR PETS!!!

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Thanks! That kitten has a coat as sleek looking as a black snake on a sunny day.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Living in a condo on the 4th Floor, cats make more sense than dogs. At the farm we have 4 dogs running around at any given time and they get plenty of exercise.

My house is dripping animals. Between everyone we have two chihuahuas and two cats upstairs, two cats and a chihuahua on the main floor and a cat downstairs, plus I have two mice.

This disreputable lump weighs more than all the dogs put together! Gaffer and the black beauties would make a great Halloween display!

At one point I had about sixty animals of my own, mostly small exotics including reptiles, amphibians, mammals, insects and arachnids. I also actually worked at a zoo for about seven years.
I come by the name honestly!

That looks like several cats! I thought fourteen pounds of Gaffer was a hefty kitty.
She’s pretty, though!

This is Ruger. He's a 4 month old rescue from OK. His litter was found tied in a pillowcase, dumped by a river. Covered with ticks and fleas and infected with parvo. We adopted him a month ago and he's got a clean bill of health. I tell him he's the luckiest dog in the world!

This is Mr. Griffin, he is a Brussels Griffon and of course as the name implies they are from Belgium. This boy thinks he needs to be up close and personal with you so he can supervise. He is now 5 years old.

Thanks for the kind words, and compliments on my pack S.W. & Quick Steel. I have spent a lot of time working with all the dogs. The cats and dogs sleep together regularly. Especially in the winter.

I try to make sure and allow them to explore the world outside of the small worlds we tend to create for ourselves in and around our homes etc. Especially when speaking of our family pets.

All are rescues except for bella and bubba. Murphy was my my neighbor dog for years 8+ I believe. I walked him all the time with mine. He now lives with us. He has been with us for going on 3 years now.
Murphy's toy basket!
Murphy's toy basket!
He loves his toy basket! Make no mistake. He knows just exactly which toy he wants too. He will dig deep just to get at the ONE he wants at the time. He's so funny. The youngest cat, little girl. She adores him. She let's him clean her and everything.
They make me

We have a new Golden Retriever, her name is Scout. After our Maddie died 3 weeks ago, our house and lives just seemed empty. Our vet put us in contact with someone trying to find a new home for Scout about a week later. She is a purebred Golden Retriever and exhibits all the traits. Very focused on toys and fetching. It’s nice to have a Golden again that likes to play. As you can see from the group shot our Kobi, another Golden, is getting old and only plays sitting down. He is almost 13.
Every morning when Scout sees me she starts this low growl or moan, it’s hard to describe, if you have had a Golden you have probably heard it. It’s a play growl that communicates take this toy from me but don’t take it, okay take it, no don’t take it, oh just love me and throw something. She gets excited easily and for some reason is obsessed with our outdoor cat. She is a lot of fun. She is a sloppy drinker and drips water everywhere after she drinks and then she burps like a human. Thinking about taking her and doing carnivals, see Scout the amazing burping dog. It’s good to have a backup plan for making a living.

Mark, congratulations on your new family member, Scout.

David R, Mr. Griffen looks like he would be exceptionally entertaining and a close "bonder." I say this because of his ability to be right with you on table top or desk.

Some good looking pets everyone. Never been a cat owner myself, and my wife is allergic to them. We do have some occasional feral barn cats, but they come and go, and you typically can’t get close to them. They’ll sit and watch you from a distance but if you approach them they scat! A while back I posted the story about putting out cat food daily for a momma barn cat (my wife felt sorry for her), only to find out from watching the game camera for several days that the only thing eating it was a big fat possum! ::facepalm::

Mark, your description of Scout’s behavior hit home. My Labrador, Mazie does the same thing. She has a stuffed duck that she carries around the house. Like a child with a favorite toy, she even sleeps with it - one or both paws and/or her chin resting on it.

She will bring it to you and sit staring at you. “See my duck? It’s mine and you can’t have it, but would you please throw it for me? No you can’t hold it, but please please throw it.” She wants you to throw it, but she doesn’t want you to have it! ::shrug:: When you try to take it from her so you can throw it, she quickly turns her head away at just the last second, so you can’t take it. All the time she’s wagging her tail. When you do get the duck from her she immediately sits in her “retrieve” position, as she was trained, watching to see in what direction it’s thrown. You throw it, she retrieves it and then this time when she brings it back she readily gives it to you. “Throw it again!” She will fetch it again and again, probably until your arm falls off.

When she first brings the duck to you, if you ignore her she will push you with her nose, with the duck in her mouth. “Hey, don’t you see me? Please throw the duck. No you can’t have it but please throw it!” ::dang:: If you continue to ignore her, she eventually will put it in your lap. “Okay, okay, you can have it, if you’ll please just throw it for me.”

Dogs are a lot of fun. ::nod:: Mazie often makes us laugh, which I’m sure is good for us.

Ken

You described both of my Golden’s to a tee. Scout will also test us by laying her ball down early and see if you will move over and pick it up and toss it. If you hold your ground she will eventually pick it up and put it on you or at your feet. She also does that duck away at the last second when she won’t let it go. We also see a stubborn streak in her just like our Kobi, you can just see it in the eyes that she is going to defy you and make you make her do something. They just get this looks on their faces that tells you they aren’t going to do what you say this time, with her it’s usually when she grabs something she isn’t suppose to have. They are a lot like kids, testing the limits and your resolve. And what joy they bring into our lives.
