Thanks Phil for posting the Pow Wow. We used to go to 2 or 3 a year but haven't been to one in a couple of years. Looks like some cool fancy dancers there.

Those Indian ceremonial costumes are extraordinary. Phil, would you recall the tribe you were observing?

I'm not entirely certain, but Navajo would be my best guess.

It has been hot and very dry in South Texas since beginning of August so I make some water and supplemental food available for the local wildlife. These are phone pictures of a couple of whitetail bucks who came by to sample the food block. The deer in my part of Texas are smallish.

My grandson is an Army 92G Culinary Specialist (cook, his choice) and via a very circuitous route stumbled on this Face Book post of his this morning.

That's funny Jerry.
Phil, we were at Taos Pueblo in the year 9/11 happened. It was for St Geronimo day. On that day with lots of festivities the grand event is one of the Koshare's (sacred clowns) climbs an about 60 foot telephone and takes down some bread and a dead sheep, symbolic of providing food for the pueblo for the coming year. It was thundering and lightning was all over the sky that day. The fellow climbs to the top of the pole, stand on the top of the pole and unfurls an American flag! The wind is blowing like crazy, he is standing on a 10 inch circle 60 feet off the ground, lighting all around, about the most patriotic thing I have ever seen in my life. I have teared up just remembering it. St Geronimo day is Sept 30 so 9/11 was fresh on everyone's mind. I have been there on several other feast days but nothing like that one.

Can't recall if I ever posted this or not. This was my grandpa's car. It's normally in the shop under a car cover and gets driven about two or three times a year. I'm rearranging some stuff in the shop so it was uncovered today while I moved it. Needs a bath!

Jerry from my experience there are some very patriotic and proud of the USA native Americans. Aware of history, still angry in some cases and totally mistrusting of the government but quick to defend the USA when called on to do so.jerryd6818 wrote:And to do that after the way we treated them is just blinkin' AWESOME!!!!

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Thanks for the compliments on the car. My grandpa died in 1968 and the car sat in his garage for several years afterward until Dad and I brought it here. We restored it in the 70s - new interior (mohair), new paint, re-chromed, etc. Everything put back as original. It's never been left outside even overnight so it's in great shape.
Mike, the shop is a mess right now. Need to throw out a bunch of junk and get rid of some furniture my sister has stored in it. Supposedly that was just temporary but it's been there several years, just collecting dust and in the way.. when you have a place like that everyone wants to put stuff in it.

Re: Pictures of Miscellaneous Stuff & Things
Not much I can add about such a wonderful car. Just that I wish I could be restored and re-chromed .
