I have seen them but never fired one. Pulling the trigger might create a little excitement in your hand. Cool revolver.

Re: Guns & Gun Related Stuff
I drug a box of holsters down from the closet to see if I had one that would fit the newly acquired Colt Officers Model revolver with a 6 inch barrel. Sure enough I had a nice old Bianchi #129 crossdraw that fit it perfectly, along with a dark brown rimfire ammo pouch. But the darndest thing, the belt for the holster that had been in the closet for the past few years had shrunk about 2 inches. Isn't it something how those belts sit in the closet in the darkness and shrink!!! Can't figure out why the holsters don't shrink also. Anybody know???????

I saw a photo of one of those in a Time-Life book on the Old West. They identified it as a Reed's (I may not have gotten the spelling right) "My Friend" Knuckleduster .32. Yours also appears to be a Reed's; what caliber is it? Definitely not the sort of thing I'd want as a primary means of self-defense. It is a neat piece, though.Miller Bro's wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:21 pm Doubles as a knuckle duster when you run out of ammo!

Dan, it's a .22 caliber. All the seven shot cylinders were. The .32 and .41 were 5-shot cylinders. Those two were much rarer than this .22 cal.
Here's a couple YouTube videos that explains these guns fairly well.

As to your question, I believe it has to do with how they cut it to the grain of the leather. Some shrink more, some less, some slower, some quicker. All has to do with the cut of the grain.
Take care and God bless,

I suspect the shrinkage has more to do with the number of cheeseburgers and beers consumed.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:16 pmSweet!!OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 6:12 pm I drug a box of holsters down from the closet to see if I had one that would fit the newly acquired Colt Officers Model revolver with a 6 inch barrel. Ray, I find your theory very offensive. I'm sure it has something to do with the leather. OC, that holster seems to be a great fit.Paladin wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 1:09 amI suspect the shrinkage has more to do with the number of cheeseburgers and beers consumed.Steve Warden wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 11:16 pmSweet!!OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 6:12 pm I drug a box of holsters down from the closet to see if I had one that would fit the newly acquired Colt Officers Model revolver with a 6 inch barrel. Well, sorry to have offended your tender sensibilities. I have several belts in my closet where the Bride insists the shrinkage is due to caloric intake. I guess I just made the assumption that the same applied.doglegg wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 2:13 amRay, I find your theory very offensive. I'm sure it has something to do with the leather. Cool Knuckle Duster, Dimitri. I have seen those often at auction.
I have a belt I wear at the farm, it gets wet with sweat and stretches, I had to make more holes in it.
Glad you found a fitting holster, OC.

WOW! I imagine, even with it being a 22, it would be a pretty "exciting" event to touch one of those off.Miller Bro's wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 11:21 pm Anyone have one of these?

Thanks!
I never fired it, I am told modern .22 ammo is too powerful to discharge in this old gun.
Maybe if I found some old vintage rounds I might try it?

Some primer-only rounds are still readily available and may be the answer. I use them to test fire, when needed, indoorsMiller Bro's wrote: ↑Sun Apr 02, 2023 8:27 amThanks!

I've shot those and they move so slow you can see them.

Optics on handguns— who else loves them?
As my eyes have aged… I’ve stared shooting my pistols that have optics more often
- SW MP 2.0 Perf Ctr 5.5” ported .45 w/CT optic
- Canik TP9 9mm w/Leupold optic
- Taurus Comp TX22 .22lr w/Vortex optic
- Sig P322 .22lr w/Sig optic
So I decided to add an optic to a revolver too…
I bought this 1oz aluminum mini rail from Weigand and will put a lightweight optic on it. I’m going to try it on this M990 Taurus 9-shot .22lr
