Nice Truck GD! I’ve always liked fords. Although the only Ford I own at the moment is a pre ‘65 Ford 2000 tractor! Lol.

Dinadan wrote:Cool photos from your walk, Ken. One shot looks a bit muddy. There are plenty of places around here like that, especially after all the rain lately. In my area the wild flowers have been great this year. So have the domestic flowers, for that matter. For the last couple of weeks, every time I go out into my back yard, I want to pause and smell the citrus and pear flowers.
Joe- I also like turtles. Most days I take a roughly two mile walk around my subdivision. Here is a little fellow that I picked out of the middle of the street a couple of weeks ago. I left him in my back yard - at least he will not get run over until he wanders out into the street again. Anyone have a clue about the species? I think it is hard to positively identify newly hatched turtles like this one, but I am no expert.
Mel, that may be a red-eared slider. Or it might also be a yellow-bellied slider. He doesn't have his head out in the pics, but if he had red on the side of his head, that's what he is. They are very common across the South. We have'em in pretty much every pond here in Texas.

Thanks, Mike. I will try to remember to look for red.Unk wrote: Mel, that may be a red-eared slider. Or it might also be a yellow-bellied slider. Great photo of that young lady and her bird and gun.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
All these turtle shots are great. Doglegg is that you in the last photo?
Doglegg the turkey was shot at 50 yards with an Armcor 12g. I'm not familiar with Armcor but it obviously did the job.

The turtles I'm showing are pretty small. 6 or 7 inches.doglegg wrote:Hey FRJ, a few old turtle pics from a park in Ft Worth.DSCN2139.JPGDSCN2146.JPGDSCN2149.JPGDSCN2153.JPGDSCN2163.JPGDSCN2148.JPG
The turtles in your post look pretty big.
I assume that last picture is a picture of you. You look very contented there.

Armscor is a company out of the Philippines. They make some reasonably priced and quality 1911's and several other things. A pretty good company.Quick Steel wrote:All these turtle shots are great. Doglegg is that you in the last photo?

And yes the last old mossy back is me.

Some of these turtles were probably 10 to 12 inches across. Thanks.FRJ wrote:The turtles I'm showing are pretty small. 6 or 7 inches.doglegg wrote:Hey FRJ, a few old turtle pics from a park in Ft Worth.DSCN2139.JPGDSCN2146.JPGDSCN2149.JPGDSCN2153.JPGDSCN2163.JPGDSCN2148.JPG

One of my favorite cayote pictures. Taken across a warm pond in Kelly Wy. Heavy steam from the pond on a really cold morning, ducks and geese on the pond and off in the distance taking it all in and thinking about lunch is Wiley B. himself.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Deer everywhere, Homer? Some folks love that, but I have a couple of sisters who live in the country and the two animals they cannot abide are armadillos and deer! Cool photo.
Very nice coyote photo, Doglegg.
Great deer and turkey photos at the feeder, Monk.
Everyone is posting photos of beautiful animals, so I am going to change the direction. Yesterday I caught what is probably the ugliest fish I have ever caught. It is a Black Drum, maybe 30 pounds though I did not weigh or measure it. It was bigger than I normally keep, but there was an old man (my age) fishing nearby. When I hoisted the fish for a photo he yelled that if I did not want it, he would like to have it. I gladly gave him the fish and he told me that he had 14 nephews and nieces at home to feed. I noticed later that he caught a substantial drum himself: with 14 dependents he needed a lot!
We wound up with a mess of White Trout, which are a perfect fish. Easy to clean and taste delicious! Had them for supper.
