A few more. 10 days in the back country, on this trek we hiked 86 miles, not counting “side hikes”. Everything you have, clothes, food, and gear is carried on your back. The scouts figured out real quick, you eat the heaviest food first regardless whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper.
Great memories - wish I could go again!

Thanks David and cudgee. Philmont is a beautiful place - over 140,000 acres in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico, plus thousands more adjacent acres leased from the National Forest Service. Cimarroncito Lake is just one of many picturesque places there.edge213 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 3:11 amThe last one sure is a beautiful picture.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 3:07 am Found some old pictures from BSA treks to Philmont. I was fortunate to go with my sons three times as an adult scout leader.

Don't know the cause, John, but whenever I tap your photos to enlarge them they show on their side rather than right side up.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread
We have one of our states under water at the moment, severe floods last weekend, some places getting over 40 inches of rain over 2-3 days. One of the problems these poor people have to put up with on top of everything else is some of our wildlife looking for refuge. How would you like to be facing this on top of being flooded out.

Yes Tom, as you enter or leave our property you cross the little creek. It is an intermittent stream and will dry up for much of the summer.
Re: Outdoorsman Thread
Too bad it runs dry in the summer time. That's pretty. Wish I lived closer to water.Quick Steel wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 7:38 pm Yes Tom, as you enter or leave our property you cross the little creek. It is an intermittent stream and will dry up for much of the summer.

The area around the small KY town of Perryville saw one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War. The battle determined that the state would remain in the Union. The rebels retreated to Tennesee.
