Movies I've Watched Several Times and Will Watch Again

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

Movies I've Watched Several Times and Will Watch Again

Post by jerryd6818 »

I almost never read a book a second time on purpose (sometimes by accident) but there are a few movies that for me are so good I've watched them over and over again.
  • Casablanca
  • Strange Brew
  • Second Hand Lions
  • Forest Gump
  • My Cousin Vinny
  • Roadhouse
  • A Few Good Men
How about you? Ya got any fav's.

Not that many, but a few.

African Queen
The Shootist
The Hunt for Red October
The Edge

I also watch quite a few of the old B/W detective series.

Sherlock Holmes
Charlie Chan
The Lone Wolf
Mr. Wong
Mr. Moto
Bulldog Drummond
etc...

With so much to choose from these days, I don't re-watch all that many, like I used to.

Thanks for reminding me Greg. I'm adding "Bull Durham" to my list, also "Major League" and "A League of Their Own". (There's no crying in baseball)

"Bull Durham" had some great quotes. Here's one of them,

" I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. [sigh] But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology."

By golly, I believe that may be a great idea for another thread.

A River Runs Through It was mentioned but with that I would add Legends of the Fall. A baseball film I'll watch whenever it comes on is Trouble with the Curve, as well as the others Jerry mentioned.

I watched Mutiny on the Bounty yesterday with M Gibson and Anthony Hopkins. Not a fan of Gibson so much but a good film anyway. Would watch it again.

There's probably more. If I were to actually get up and open the DVD drawers, I could remember some of them. The Marvel Movies for one, all of them and the Star Wars series.

If you've never seen the BBC or ITC series of Sherlock Holmes movies with Jeremy Brett, you've never really seen Sherlock Holmes. I've read The Complete Sherlock Holmes and that series follows the books almost to a "T".

Also, the Foyle's War series. Simply fantastic. Every story-line was based on actual events.

I also liked The Horatio Hornblower Series, though a lot of my friends did not like the main actor. They thought him too unmasculine. I'm not that petty. It's a great series. Although, I never read the book.
