The map is already out of date, in a good way for me.
Yesterday we were in the yellow, as shown.
Passed the gas station this morning and we are now in the green!
Hope the trend continues!!

Cool! I zoomed in to the gas station I was referencing and it showed the current $2.29.

I guess what irks me the most about gas prices is that if/when they do start coming down, it's only a penny or two at a time, taking days at a time.
But, boy, let 'em start on the way up! Seven cents today, eight cents the next, another five cents three days after that!!

$1.90 in 2018 is equivalent in purchasing power to $0.23 in 1962 which is how much gas was going for then,

Our town is very small here in the Northern part of Southern Ca. One stop light, two stop signs. Only one Freeway exit from Interstate 5 within the town limits. As you get off the Freeway there is one gas station that has been selling Regular gas for $4.00 per gallon for many weeks now. Very sneaky that the owners make first time stoppers to think that that is a normal price and they have no conscience of milking you. However, if you were to continue down the block and turn the corner you can purchase it for $3.69 at "Arco" which always has better prices.
Or....you can go to Costco and get it for $3.49.

Australia fuel prices are a lot higher.I did all the conversions for currency and metric back to US gallons
Premium $4.85 (44c gst and $1.00 government levy =$1.44 in taxes )
Diesel $4.36 (40c gst and $1.00 government =$1.40 in taxes )
These taxes are the ones I know about.There could be some state taxes I don't know about.
When travelling across Australia last month the highest price I paid was equivalent to $5.78 US a gallon

Your prices are very close to the prices in Europe. After converting currencies and volumes, the result is $ 4.62 per gallon gasoline in Bulgaria. In our neighboring Greece prices are about 30% higher.

I paid $2.09 this afternoon at the Shell station in Smiths Grove, KY right by the I-65 interstate exit.

On the North side of Belvidere, IL (population 25,585) gas is $2.29. But on the south side..........
I paid $2.23 just last Saturday in Belvidere and by the time I got home, (less than 2 hours) it had dropped to $2.21 at the same station.
The last time I saw it below $2.00 a gallon was in Southern Missouri and south to New Orleans back in 2015.

Cuz inspired me to run some numbers. I used this website that lists the national average gas price for every year since 1935.

Gas in 1976 was $0.56 a gallon. I ran that’s through a currency converter from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics https://data.bls.gov/cgi-bin/cpicalc.pl ... ar2=201810

In today’s money gas was $2.47 a gallon the year I was born. So it’s cheaper now, right?

I quit in September of 1979 when smokes got to 50 cents a pack in our area. I remember I was thinking "that is getting to be outrageous". lol

Yep, 25¢ in town, 20¢ on base and 10¢ outside CONUS (I smoked Pall Mall at the time) and gas was anywhere between 23¢ - 28¢ a gallon depending on what part of the country you were in and where you bought it and whether there was a gas war going on. 16¢ a gallon on the North end of Moweaqua Illinois during a gas war in the spring of 1962.

Isn't it crazy? I have instant recall for crap like that and half the time I can't remember my own name.
