That's about the lowest I remember it, during "gas wars". The stations would start competing against each other. It generally ran about .22 cents a gallon. Frequently, if you got a fill-up...you would get a Dallas Cowboy glass. Not the plastic stuff they hand out now. I remember my Dad, sending me with a dime, down the street to get a half gallon...for the lawnmower. It you need a dimes worth today, they wave the nozzle in front of you, and let you smell it.OLDE CUTLER wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 1:58 am The cheapest I ever remember was 17.9 cents a gallon in 1969. And the gas jockey pumped it in for you here at that time.

Cheapest I remember was 9.9 cents and I was what powered the lawn mower.

Re: Gas Prices
Cars of the day had fairly large fuel tanks, but they would only hold $3or4 dollars worth of gas. And gas was different back in the day also. One time I bought a car that had been sitting for almost 9 months. I put a new battery in it and it started right up on a half tank of old gas. I drove it 30 or 40 miles before topping up the tank with fresh. Can't do that today.Doc B wrote: ↑Sat Mar 21, 2020 2:18 amThat's about the lowest I remember it, during "gas wars". Re: Gas Prices
I was just startin to drive some and a dollar would buy me enough gas to last quite a while. I really remember pushing that mower. Boy, I hated that chore.

Re: Gas Prices
Bought my first car in 1981, a '67 LeMans, about 11mpg.
Gas was $1.31, so that works out to 12 cents per mile.
Currently have a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport, about 26mpg.
Gas is $2.18, so that works out to 8 cents a mile.
In today's money, the LeMans would be 34 cents per mile.
Just sayin'.

When I started driving they could check your oil and wash your windows while the pump ran out a dollars worth of gas. Those we're the days!

I filled up my truck on Saturday at Kroger - I paid $1.47 a gallon. That's with a Kroger discount of .30.

Looks like Oklahoma and Wisconsin are enjoying the cheapest, while the west coast is the place to go if you're in a hurry to empty your wallet.
Zoom in and you can get down to specific stations in your area.

Re: Gas Prices
Just download the GasBuddy app onto your phone - it's free and available in the Apple or Android app stores. If you allow the app to see your location you can just tap on the "find gas near me" button. Other wise you can just enter any location (city or town and state). It will find all stations in your area ranked by price lowest to highest.
Works great.

Yesterday I filled the truck for $.79 at Kroger with a dollar off. Then I got off road diesel for the tractor for $2.44. Finally, I got ethanol free gas for the small equipment for $2.54.

Re: Gas Prices
Finally down under 2 bucks, and we can't go anywhere!!
My last fill-up was back on 3/17, still have 3/8 of a tank. That's about 180 miles until empty, based on the car's mileage calculator.
Gas saving is one of the few pluses of this virus. That, and air pollution is WAY down.
