Nice day.. 50 deg and the trails were not too muddy.. Did 7 miles and had a nice lunch with a Red Tail Hawk in the tree above me.. Also a flock of ducks on the creek below me.. All in all a GREAT day to be on a "Woods Wander" !!!

Thanks John! Natural springs that we grew up floating down on the current river. Water is ice cold. Takes a while to get used to. Of course we float it on inner tubes in the summer months! Water comes barreling out of the springs! So many colors of blue it's hard to describe!
Re: Yesterdays "Woods Wander" ..
Thanks for taking us along John. Wonderful lunch guest.

Great outing, John!
WoodWalker, I will vouch for your description of Big Springs, some of the most beautiful water you will see anywhere. I have been there a few times in my life. I live roughly 3 hours East of there. Glad you posted that, I haven't been there for a few years.

Re: Yesterdays "Woods Wander" ..
Morning Ike! I knew you lived relatively close. Yes sir it is a beautiful spot to enjoy the day. Summer, Fall, Spring and Winter. I go there quite often. My dad would take us there to float on current river in the summer and we would hunt deer in the winter. Dont hunt much anymore but I like to just enjoy the scenery. Glad I was able to bring back good memories for you.Waukonda wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 4:36 pm Great outing, John!

You aroused my curiosity, so I looked it up. It comes barreling out at an average of 450 cubic feet of water per second. The maximum flow is 2,000 cu ft per second. Temp is 58 degrees.woodwalker wrote: ↑Thu Mar 04, 2021 2:23 pmWater comes barreling out of the springs!

Re: Yesterdays "Woods Wander" ..
Awesome Ike! I couldn't remember the exact! When floating down current river when you get close to the springs there is like a line in the water where it goes from cold (your use to this water temp by then) to ICE COLD and we all start hollering!! Its funny, everytime we floated, we knew it was going to happen, but it still give us a shock!! Good times!Waukonda wrote: ↑Fri Mar 05, 2021 12:19 amYou aroused my curiosity, so I looked it up.
