Looks delish Ken!Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 3:04 am Just lifted the cap and poured one. Best beer in the world IMHO, but has become increasingly difficult to find their Kristall (filtered) Weissbier here. This was the last bottle I had so I’ll be on the hunt again.

Thanks John! Weinhenstephan Kristal Weissbier is a good one, but Erdinger is my favorite. The company where I worked for 40 years has a factory in Freising, which is a suburb just north of a Munich, and the home of the Weihenstephan brewery. There is an excellent Biergarten and restaurant on the grounds of the brewery - I have spent many enjoyable evenings there! The brewery claims to be the oldest brewery in the world, in continuous operation since 1040 AD. It is also home of the University of Munich’s College of Brewery Science. Many brewmasters around the world have been trained there.1967redrider wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 3:11 pmMumbleypeg wrote: ↑Tue Jun 07, 2022 3:04 am Just lifted the cap and poured one. Not sure if it's easier for you to find, but Weihenstaphaner does a great Kristal too.

Also interesting is that the town of Erding, which is home of the Erdinger Brewery, is just a few kilometers from Freising. The Erdinger Brewery is a relative newcomer - they’ve only been brewing beer there since the 1800s. Weissbier from both breweries can readily be found here, and Erdinger Kristall Weissbier used to be easy to get, but for some reason it’s now difficult to find. Try it if you can find any there.
