Cars, trucks, rat rods and hot rods

If you can think of something to talk about that is not related to knives, discuss it here.

My FIL was a mountain of a man, he could have picked up the bike and threw it at me. When he got mad he turned beet red. Yup, red, silence, then “think I need another drink”

There was so much drinking in my younger days that it is amazing that I'm not an alcoholic.

We had an International Travelall back when.
We were pulling a travel trailer and I was driving .
A trailer wheel got loose and I fought it until it turned over.

The 5/4 ton military are awesome there’s not too many of those out there that aren’t all butchered up . Those 2 look good, not quite stock but very nice . Do you happen to know what either one went for ?

The M37 with the star on the side was mostly original, sold for $7000
The parade ready one with the gun mount and benches sold for $11,500.
I saw some listed on Hemmings for $20,000+.

Thank you , those seem like decent prices . The interest in some of the military vehicles is going by the wayside. Like old knives . The younger generations don’t seem to care for old Iron .

The highest $$ car I saw sell was a totally, non-stock 1966 Chevelle something like 595 hp. Sold for $98,000.
Several 80"s Chevy and GMC pickups in the $20-25,000 range.

That don’t surprise me with the Chevelle as the Muscle car era is heavily sought after by the folks who grew up with them and now can afford some luxuries like that . In 10 or so years we will see those 80 s pickups double or triple as that generation gets closer to retirement. Kind of like knife collecting isn’t it .

My son fits that segment, he is 51 and his pick of the auction was a basically stock, dressed up short box 1986 Chevy that sold for $25,000.
Mostly absent were the '55-'57 Chevys that were the darlings of the modern collector car markets a few years ago.
Several other '66-''67 Chevelles sold between $25,000 to $50,000.

I went to a car show in McKinney, TX Saturday morning. No shortage of 55-57 Chevys there. Lots of other fine old cars including a bunch of 60s Corvettes. Several specimens from the 30s also but unfortunately most of them had been made into street rods.

Yep, that ‘65 Pontiac Tempest is a rare one. There was also a 68 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible, and a couple of Buicks and Cadillacs. Also a few nice mid-50s Fords, some mid-60s Mustangs, and two Shelby Cobras. I heard there were over 150 cars there and I only got to see about half of them. They were having a sanctioned BBQ cook-off also, and I was signed up to judge the spare ribs. By the time I finished that the cars were leaving. ::tear:: I should have arrived earlier! ::dang::

Just asked someone that knows, who said there were 218 cars at that show. A lot of $$$ on that parking lot!

Back when my brother lived in his old house he used to host a hot rod party once a year for all of his car buddies. It usually coincided with the cities annual hot rod cruise. Here's a few of the cars that showed up at his house:

Love the old Pontiac. Silver streak down the back means the car’s a Pontiac. Looks like about a 1950
