62091 Red Bone

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

62091 Red Bone

Post by OLDE CUTLER »

I am researching this for my brother in law who may be in the market to sell. As you can see it is the 1990 Case Winchester 62091 red bone new in box. In the process of looking at a lot of pictures of this model, and selling prices on Ebay, I am wondering why some of these had serial numbers and the Case etching on the shield and some did not? Also is the present day value of this one about $150, or more or less?

I've never seen or heard of these. I would like to know more about them.

I also should have mentioned that on the side of the box shown, are the words "Via Blue Grass Cutlery Corp."

These were made when Jim Parker owned Case.
They were made by Queen for Bluegrass cutlery.
I have one like yours but mine doesn't have the serial number on the shield.
I used to be very versed in the Case Classic line but I've forgotten most of it.

I think these might have came with a knife pick too. The one I have has one.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Here’s one I have had a while. I’d have guessed $110-$120 on value but in light of increased values lately, maybe $150 is right. ::shrug:: John there was one version that came with a knife pick. There were several versions including three different shades of “greenbone” (Which all look about the same to me  ) and at least two different shades of “red bone”. I can’t recall ever seeing a serialized one before.

There were two LTC engraved oval shields in the classics; the difference is the spacing between the letters ‘A S E’, thIs wide spacing is the WRC version. The Winchester LTC engraved oval positions the letters closer: ‘ASE’.
The redbones with this jigging would ‘nominally’ have serial numbers. Mine is 015.
Added:
The original Winchester/Case came with the plain oval as did other 2091’s that followed.

Thank You!
It was the second pattern set I assembled with the Classics. I’ve rotated and reset display’s over the years but not this one. Memories of friends, road trips and knife shows in that display, good times.
