Case Stamp Question
Case Stamp Question
Hi Knifers,
Here's another one of those "Dose this knife & stamp look right?" quesions. To me, it looks like CASE over something long. Maybe Tested XX. This is the first "Older Generation" Case I have ever come across over here so I have no idea what it's worth. The sell made me an offer of €57 which is about $70. Thought I'd offer him €40 - €45 and just see what happens. So I may or may not get it but if anyones "Fake Alarm" goes off at first sight you could let me know. The seller only has one picture & it's not very good. I'm also unsure what patern this would be. Too bad it's not a Tadpole. To me it looks like a Peanut.
Thanks for any & all Input! I'd appreciate it!

Looks OK to me from this picture.
Rough black Case Tested 1920 -1940 ish.
Without length I don't know the pattern. Not a peanut.

Re: Case Stamp Question
Tom, I would need to see a closer picture of the tang stamp to be sure (it doesn't expand much when I click on it), but I think the tang stamp perhaps looks a bit "wonky". Also, what is the length? From the shape, it looks like maybe a 6214 1/2. The closed C shield fits the tested period. You may get more responses if you post this in the counterfeit forum.

Re: Case Stamp Question
Tom, the knife looks good to me. Nice score! As already said the handle covers are rough black, aka “gum Fuddy”. Case made a bunch of different “torpedo jack” patterns during the Tested era, the main difference between them being the size. Need to know the closed length (in inches ) to tell what pattern it is. Measure carefully as some of them differ by as little as 1/4 inch or less.

Re: Case Stamp Question
Excellent find, Tom. First I was thinking it could be a 6202 1/2 if a "6" was also used for Gum Fuddy, but Steve says they were all bareheads, so now I think Herb is right.

Re: Case Stamp Question
GREAT score, Tom! For only $49.00, you practically STOLE that knife (or the seller practically GAVE it away). Well done, sir, well done, indeed!

Thanks for the Info gentlemen! I'll admit that I'm a bit lost sometimes but I know a heck of a lot more about knives now than I did a few years ago. Anyways, I always appreciate your help. I'm learning..., I still have a lot to learn though.

Thanks Doug! Appreciate it!
This will be my first Case knife from that era so I'm pretty stoked about it. Can't even believe I found one of them over here in Germany.

Re: Case Stamp Question
Great find!! Looks like a 6206 1/2, would be 2-5/8" closed.

Re: Case Stamp Question
It's here! My "Torpedo Jack". Did some cleaning on it and here it is! It's 3 3/8" in length. Has very good snap! Just right for my taste. Solid half stops. Which I like. Handles are in great shape. No cracks or chips. I like the feel of them better than that of Delrin. Delrin feels more like hard plastic. These feel more like hard rubber. I like them. Pins are peened nicely. (Is that correct? Peened) Springs & well cleaned up very good. Blades have some wear on them but I'm still very stoked with this find! Threw it right into my pocket! I love it already! If anyone can tell me the pattern Nr. or close age, that would be wonderful. Oh & it's stamped Case over Tested XX on the main blade. I'll post a few pictures of it here and some more in the Case thread later on or tomarrow because it's getting late. Thanks for looking friends!

Re: Case Stamp Question
Tom, at 3-3/8 inches with a clip master blade your knife looks like a 6214-1/2 pattern. And I’d say you got a good deal at that price.
