Schrade walden 856 or cut co 8563 jr cattle knife
I am looking for a peachseed bone schrade walden 856 (or cut co 8563) jr cattle knife. A minty one would be really great, but I am also very interested in a nice one that is lightly used that could be safely carried on occasion. The most important factor is that the blades are full or near full, ideally with most of the original finish. One with a nice patina would be welcome as well.
I have a selection of some nice older knives (including a peachseed schrade walden 881) and some GEC’s that I would be willing to trade for the right 856. Here is a catalog cut of an 856 for reference.

If you quote him he might get a Notice that there's a reply. Hope this helps and to AAPK!

I have since found several very nice ones, thanks for asking. I still keep a lookout for good ones when they come along.

That looks like an excellent example. Is that a maher & grosh etch on the blade?

It seems unused other than blade rub.

Looks that way from here. Very nice example. I am fortunate to have one exactly like it as well.

Based on the Mayer and Grosh, can you date these models ?

I don't know much about maher & grosh but you can date it based on that type of bone. They are in the range of the late 1950's or early 60's. I suspect they were made after schrade moved to the ellenville factory, which happened in 1957.

Does anyone have the old cut co one?
I just got one that has barely been used. The only problem is I don’t know if it is a cut co or a Walden because someone removed the tang stamp. All that’s left is part of the last two letters in Schrade; the “D” and “E”. Why would someone do that, could this have been something the factory might have done?

St. John Chapter 1
...12 But as many as received him (Jesus), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God...
