Couple other Benchmades I've had forever. Both were gifts from a co-worker who had confiscated them from his son.

Nice! A family friend has carried one for many years he got from a relative in the military; and I intended to get one as soon as my state legalized autos. Except the AFO and AFO II tend to be pricey. $3 was a steal. I can't buy a pile of junk for that.
Pro-Tech has a knife that looks quite similar and has similar specs for a lot less than the AFO/AFO II, so I'm going with that one.

Someone didn't know what they had, never know what you'll find at a garage sale. Great find on that one!

I have a Mel Pardue "AKA-2" which is supposed to be the proto for the BENCHMADE 3000 auto. It is approx 5-1/4" closed, anodized alum body, bone inlays and marked with "AKA-2" on the tang and the serration is only one inch. It does NOT have the BENCHMADE stamp. This is the knife that started the PARDUE autos. Pardue also made a "AKA-1" and a "-3" proto-types. I don't know the value of this "historical" auto which started the 3000 auto series and I'm new to this forum and as yet don't know how to post photos of this beautiful knife. My motive is to sell this proto and I really would like some opinions on the value. Thank you in advance for the anticipated expert replies. elchepito

Are these aftermarket handles or original?

Liking the Proper here with the ODG canvas micarta. Well made knife, great feel in the hand, very thin in the pocket, great edge out the box.
