I don't know what the bottom knife model is in your photo, but it looks like a good one.

I purchased this Mini Griptillian in 2018 when I wanted to try a modern tactical knife. I paid $50 used. The seller and original owner had thinned, refined, and polished the edge, as well as disassembling it and polishing the bronze bushings inside. It's super-smooth and the AXIS lock is very southpaw friendly.
Four years later, and it's still a go-to. 154CM holds an edge much longer than the average big box store folder, yet is still pretty easy to maintain. When the edge starts to lose performance, I run it across a ceramic hone and a bit of cardboard, and I'm good to go.
The hone's only markings were on its (misplaced--again) leather slip--originally an Exide giveaway item, it is also marked "WEST VIRGINIA SLICK". From what I looked up, the company was founded two towns over in 1982, and defunct by 1999. The main product was something like a Lansky Turnbox, and I guess these were produced for advertising use.
Seems to work quicker than others I have, despite feeling finer than the modern ones I have from local stores.
I can maintain a good edge, but I can't sharpen worth a lick. I'm thinking about sending off some of my better knives messed up by my bad sharpening jobs (or decades of crappy sharpening by previous owners compounded by my mistakes) off for professional sharpening (some Bucks and Kershaws are being sent to the manufacturer next week for this), and then maintaining them as needed. The Camillus, Schrade, Westerns, etc.--I'll have to find someone who sharpens professionally.

The only Benchmade I own. Got it sometime in the late 80s early 90s at an LEO supply store. Still got the box and receipt somewhere. ATS34 steel. I remember thinking at the time it must be exotic as I had never heard of it.
