This is a 1837 Silver Five Francs coin showing Louis Philippe, King of France from 1830 to 1848.
The coin is cut in half, a stainless steel knife/tool mechanism inserted and is bound or pinned back together. It is just a tad smaller than a United States Silver Dollar.

Middle image shows angle looking at pivot pins.

In 1920 Charles Louis Eloi Pernet establish his own factory Eloi Pernet in Biesles, France.
With a small group of the best artisans he could find, Eloi quickly became renown for their work.
They still produce luxury items like cigar cutters, coin knives and now other fine items sold in pharmacies and beauty salons. This is one of their older coin knives.

That may very well be the neatest knife I've ever seen! By chance, would you want to part with it???

Good morning Gents :D ,

CJ, I just sent you an email.

Bill, I do not smoke anymore, but if I did I would be using one of their cigar cutters. May get one some day for my "Smoking Collection" ::tu::

They made a Snuff Box from this same coin also, if anyone ever sees one, I would appreciate a "Heads Up"

Thanks,
9ball

Good morning 9 ball. That is a great little knife ::nod:: . I have seen one or two similar on ebay. If anyone is interested, you might try searching worldwide using the French words canif or couteau. Have a great day:) s-k

Hello Smiling-Knife :) ,

Thanks, it is one of my favorites.

There is a couple on eBay now. Just look closely if buying there and ask questions. One I saw the other day look bent. Sometimes the spring for the sissors is missing or broke also.
Try:

also for some of their newer stuff.
