Hey SK;
Heres something for you and the rest of your countrymen to be proud of.
From the East India Works. Could be the Worlds finest brand of kitchen knives. A.J. JORDAN.
I have included photos of the makers mark, The handle marking, an overall of the knife, a bottom and a top shot of hammer forged tang. A
good example of forging for those who have not seen it before, and an out of place view of one of my draw bridges I have to look at.
As an after thought, we from the U.S. can also stand tall as Jordan was
from St. Louis. It will take two posts so keep looking.
Thanks for looking,
W.B.

Hi mossdancer. Thanks for sharing that . There is a little blurb about Andrew Jordan in the Sheffield Knife Book from which the following info is paraphrased. He was born in Baltimore, had a cutlery firm in St Louis and moved to Sheffield in 1885. The handle is "seasoned Persian Boxwood" The co was famous for the highest quality kitchen and butcher knives...all hand made in Sheffield and mostly sold in the US. Your's stamped with England was most likely made for import into the US post 1891. The co died with him in 1929. Great bit of cutlery history s-k
