Richartz Pen Knife

Post by rangerbluedog »

Just picked up this old Richartz Pen Knife, advertising the Empire State Building.
Not sure how old this one is. I'm guessing 1950s-1970s. Anybody familiar with these?

Your guess seems about right. The company has been around for over 100 years and is still making cutlery, mainly kitchen knives and SAK-type pocket knives: https://richartz.com/en/#.

In this day and age, I wonder if the Empire State Building gift shop still carries souvenir knives?

Interesting knife, Blue. I would guess 1950s to 1960s. Is it by chance either 3 or 3-1/2 inches long? I have a catalog cut from the 1953 showing those two sizes in what looks like your model without the nice graphics on the handle.

I got my copy of KNIFE Magazine last week and MASON has a great article about this knife brand. "RICHARTZ and RICHARDS" - an interesting article about a knife company with family ties in Solingen and Sheffield.
