Re: My Manual Folders!
Thanks Sam! I bought these 3 from Blades Canada, www.warriorsandwonders.com here in Canada. Top-notch selection, reasonable prices for Canada, and fast inexpensive shipping. I was lucky to find this site after dealing with a different one that you could never be sure if your package would arrive, and this was after waiting up to a month sometimes for them to ship. Apples and oranges!

Re: My Manual Folders!
Here is my most recent acquisition, and wow it's a beauty! The knife was hand-made in Iran, it's a one-of-a-kind model, and was shipped over to Ali the owner of his AAPK store "Eight Knives", and put up for sale. He has many other beautiful knives that are similar and different, so it's worth taking a look. This one is 8 1/4" oal and has a single SS sheepsfoot blade that has a fuller and a nail-nic, all SS hardware, file-work, accented bird's head bottom bolster, and evenly matched genuine stag covers. Fairly light at only 2.8 oz.'s, but incredibly sharp. It has a strong pull close to 8 and walks open smoothly, and the same finger-tip biting talk. Fit n' finish is excellent. The only marking is some sort of symbol, perhaps the builder's logo, stamped on the front tang. They build these knives to do delicate work with wood including bamboo so they're actually quite thin, but solidly made just the same. A fine candidate for my "unusual" group!
Thanks Ali! Re: My Manual Folders!

Re: My Manual Folders!
These 2 knives were ordered from, built in, and shipped from Spain! They are quite similar in design but for a couple of slight differences such as one being longer. The 1st knife is an 8 1/4" oal lockback stiletto/SS dagger blade and no n/n, and an all brass frame including ornate bolsters and wood inlays. Is quite light at only 2.7 oz.'s, and came to me unsharpened. Walks n' talks with about a 4 and the fit n' finish is well done. The 2nd knife is an 8 3/4" oal slip-joint stiletto/SS dagger blade and a n/n, and the same all brass frame with only wood inlays this time, no ornate bolsters. This knife registers slightly heavier at 3.1 oz.'s, and was also unsharpened. Walk n' talk is considerably more pronounced displaying about a 7 with a similar fit n' finish as on the 1st knife. Both knives are completely unmarked, but I bought them from the seller in Spain who sold me , my J.J. Martinez stag stiletto so perhaps he built these as well!

Re: My Manual Folders!
I added this "cute" little Rough Rider stiletto to the ole' collection today! It turned out to be somewhat smaller than I was expecting, and would only be useful as a key-ring EDC. It's 6 1/4" oal which seemed like a descent size, but once in-hand it feels very "slight" and quite light. The body is a 2-piece build made of blue steel with through holes, along with a SS dagger blade with a n/n and brass torx screws, and displays slip-joint action. The lightest knife I own coming in at only 1.6 oz.'s, but it did come extremely sharp. A very comfortable walk n' talk of about a 4, with the usual R/R fit n' finish. This is one for cleaning your finger-nails with!

Re: My Manual Folders!
Well, I received a couple of packages with 6 folders in them between the 2 so here they are!
A 9 3/4" oal Kabar "Long John" coke-bottle slip-joint with NS hardware, fluted bolsters, and bone covers! A 7 3/4" oal unmarked but for the etch in the 4th picture, humpback with NS hardware and mismatched stag covers! If anyone can enlighten me as to the maker or who's etch this is please do! The etch is an Indian Chief in full headdress over "Indiana"! The other 4 knives are all the same brand so I'll post another thread for them! - Madmarco

Re: My Manual Folders!
These 4 knives are all from Brother in 4 different models!
A 7 1/2" oal Brother 1502 lockback with 440C drop-point blade, brass hardware, and G-10 covers! A 7" oal Brother 1511 slip-joint with VG-10 blade, blue G-10 liners, brass pins, Brother brand shield, and carbon fiber covers! A 7" oal Brother 1508 slip-joint with VG-10 Wharncliffe blade, SS hardware, Brother brand shield, and carbon fiber covers! A 6 1/4" oal Brother 1503 lockback with VG-10 blade, SS hardware, Brother brand shield, and carbon fiber covers! Each knife comes in it's own sturdy canvas sack for carrying! Of all the Brother models these 4 are the one's I liked the best, so rather than pussy-foot around I got all 4 at once, CDN$138. including shipping! Re: My Manual Folders!
Marco,
Those Brother knives really look nice.
Where online do you find them? I see them on Amazon. Is there an online knife store? I usually deal with Smokey Mountain Knife works in the USA. No listing for them on their site.
Thanks
Nev

Re: My Manual Folders!
Hey Nev! I got mine at www.aliexpress.com , and you can also find them at www.dhgate.com , both Chinese sites that I've had very successful dealings with. I too checked SMKW but found no listings. IMHO, I'd suggest you buy from Amazon, cuz they're more reputable, delivery will be MUCH faster, and their prices are quite similar to the overseas sites. I'm unaware of anywhere else you might check at this time. I also post any new knives I get in the "Comfort Knives" thread along with detailed descriptions, so you might wish to take a look at the Brother knife info so you'll have a good idea what the knife is about! They're really nice well built knives, you certainly will not be disappointed should you buy any! Hope that helps!
Re: My Manual Folders!
Thanks Marco,
I think if I buy one, I will use Amazon.

Re: My Manual Folders!
This recent acquisition from China is a DeHong 9 1/4" oal lockback swinguard with a SS clip-point blade minus a n/n, SS bolsters liners guards and pins, lanyard hole, and what I believe are Bocote wood covers that display a lovely grain pattern. Has a comfortable weight of about 4 oz.'s, and arrived quite sharp. It has a soft smooth walk n' talk, and the fit n' finish is excellent. It came with the standard nylon sheath. It's an inexpensive folder that sucked me in with it's guards and beautiful covers, and guess what, after seeing a model with a drop-point blade I ordered it also cuz I'm a drop-point fan above a clip-point fan! Pictures to come! Looks good in my collection!

Re: My Manual Folders!
And the hits just keep on comin'! Seems I'm posting a lot of knives lately, well, it's better than not posting cuz that would mean I'm not getting any new knives and we can't have that! This knife today is from an ebay auction win where I was the only bidder so I picked it up rather inexpensively. It was described as a Navaja which I assume is due to the shape of the blade and is a Toledo slip-joint that's 8" oal with a SS spear-point/Navaja blade, SS hardware that's in the beginning stages of patina, and faux stag covers. The word "Toledo" is etched on the blade. Has a nice weight of 3.5 oz.'s and arrived dull as a butter knife. I think this is the 1st of all the knives I've received that came dull! Even after applying Q.R. oil to the pivot the walk is still a very stiff 8 along with a definite half-stop and resounding "click" when closing. Fit n' finish is adequate for an older knife. I was attracted by the look of the knife and it's gonna fit right in with my others!

Re: My Manual Folders!
Well, since this knife was built in Canada I guess it qualifies as an "Other foreign made knives" entry! It's made by RahmitKnives in B.C. and is a 9" oal linerlock with a 5mm 512 layer Damascus dagger blade, Damascus hardware, brass extensively file-worked liners, secured with screws, and black ebony wood covers. Has a substantial weight of about 8 oz.'s and it's double-edged blade came well sharpened on both edges. Silky smooth walk and talk, as well as a near perfect fit n' finish. Also included was a high quality cowhide sheath with a snap and a sharpening rod tucked in the side pouch. I am not oblivious to the fact that all sorts of builders are producing this kind of folder in mass quantities, but since I'd never seen one with fixed bolster guards I scooped it up. My 4th Damascus knife via etsy!

Re: My Manual Folders!
Last week I posted this knife's brother with it's clip-point blade, and now I have this model to post with it's drop-point blade! I wish I'd seen this model first cuz if I had I'd have only bought this one. It's quite similar to it's brother in that it's a 9 1/4" oal lockback with a SS drop-point blade with long-pull and "DISPATCH" etch, SS bolsters liners and guards, brass pins, and what I believe to be Walnut covers. It comes in at around 4 oz.'s and arrived extremely sharp. Silky smooth walk n' talk as well as a near perfect fit n' finish. I usually remove swinguards as soon as the knife arrives but I've received a few knives recently that I've left them on, but when I picture this model without them I become very tempted to see it's straight profile minus guards. I may remove them yet since each one has it's own separate screw not fixed rivet, so if I didn't care for the guardless look they can be easily reinstalled!

Re: My Manual Folders!
Yet another fruitful trip to my mailbox today! This melon-tester was purchased on etsy and I'm very pleased with it. I have other M/T's but none with a lockback release and/or wood covers. It's a Hammette International brand measuring 8 1/4" oal and sports a SS drop-point blade with a n/n, NS bolsters and liners, brass pins, and nicely grained Stamina wood covers. Weighs 2.3 oz.'s and arrived adequately sharpened. Silky-smooth walk n' talk along with an excellent fit n' finish. There's an etch on the top-front bolster that reads "Jenks Bros. Cold Storage & Packing, Inc." as well as "Hammette Intl." stamped on the front tang. I now own melon-testers with celluloid, chrome, bone, and wood covers!

Re: My Manual Folders!
I've got back-to-back Melon-Testers guys! The previous post and this knife were ordered weeks apart from different sellers but due to different amounts of time spent in Customs the 2 arrived to me just 2 days apart. I don't usually post 2 of the same kind of knife one after the other so that's why I'm doing so today. For some reason I feel compelled to explain all that to you driven by the fear you'all will think I'm weird posting the same style knife twice in a row! I had to make an important phone call at the crack of dawn and ended-up not going to bed so I'm a bit loopy, my apologies. This lovely M/T might not even be a true M/T pattern but that's what I'm calling it, and it's a 9 3/4" oal O.M.O.R. EZO coke-bottle slip-joint that has a SS spear-point blade that's been so poorly sharpened it's taken on the appearance of a Spey blade and has a large n/n, brass bolsters liners and pins, and nicely matched Delrin covers. It weighs 3.6 oz.'s and I've already explained the sharpening. Buttery-smooth walk along with a solid "click" when it talks. It's fit n' finish displays nicely tarnishing hardware as well as slightly faded covers and everything else is how it's suppose to be. In my last M/T post I stated I have M/T with covers in celluloid, chrome, bone, and wood and now I can add Delrin to the list!

Re: My Manual Folders!
This fine little folder rolled in today and this time there's no doubt as to what material the covers are, STAG! The AAPK seller wouldn't ship outside the US, so my friend Mark at SSk bought it and shipped it to me. It is, a 6 1/4" oal A. Wright & Son/Sheffield Ltd slip-joint that sports a C70 carbon steel sheepsfoot blade along with a n/n, NS bolsters, brass liners and pins, file-worked back spring, and mismatched GENUINE STAG covers. It comes in at only 2.7 oz.'s along with a deadly sharp blade. Has a very tight walk of probably close to 9, as well as a firm half-stop and snapping turtle detent. The fit n' finish is 2nd to none. I'd tried just concentrating on automatics, but when a piece like this comes along I can't help being interested!

Thank you much Nev! I don't know how much of this thread you have read, but it contains mostly all my personal manuals with the odd post from other members, and there's an assortment of usual and unusual folders from around the world that you'd likely find interesting.
