Anton Wingen Jr Othello Solingen sod buster

Post by Tanuki »

My search didn't find many Wingen knives on the forum. I found this in a vintage mall yesterday. I did some basic cleanup, filed a quick choil, and took a first shot at getting a working edge with my medium/superfine Oregon Stone. This could be a real workhorse for me, but it has a strong spring and will be difficult to open while wearing gloves.

I don’t know anything about the brand but it’s a good looking vintage knife. Should serve you well. Personally when it comes to sod busters I prefer Case sod busters. Nice find!

Nice find, should make a good EDC user. To facilitate opening the blade you can purchase an add-on thumb stud on line for a few bucks -they come with a set screw for attachment. Just search for “knife thumb stud”. Check to be sure there’s room to attach a thumb stud on your blade when closed.
