I didn't know about his curved blade when I bought it. I only found out after showing this knife to people. He make a wide variety of knives. I was surprised how many I found when doing research on this one.

I cannot imagine what it is like to cut with a laterally curved blade.
Very nice knife Gary but i don't need another custom right now.

I have owned this Bob Neal bolster release automatic knife for over 25 years. I have seen several like this one only not a tang stamp like this. I know this is an early one, but I am curious why he did not use his name on the stamp.

I'm unsure about that knife and would expect Tom would know more than I do. However, I do know Bob was very accommodating and would work with a buyer to create the knife he wanted including pattern and handle material. It's not unthinkable that he would etch the tang for a buyer. Just curious if you bought that knife directly from Bob or another party?

I purchased it at a knife show in the Midwest from a gentleman from Fremont Nebraska. This was my first opportunity to purchase a custom made automatic knife. I asked him what S. B. on the tang stood for and he just laughed and said switchblade!

Bob and I are great friends. When Bob, started the switch blade thing the regulations on them were a little unclear so he didn’t stamp his name on them. Of course he started stamping his name on them later. Anyone that knows Bob knows he is not that concerned about the money but about producing a quality product that he and the buyer can be proud of. Great guy and a super knife maker!!
