I bought this knife new from a GEC dealer. The crack on the back side happened when peening the spring pivot pin in the GEC factory/workshop.
It has not changed. It is stable. The crack will not enlarge on it's own but will if dropped.
New in tube, never used.

I just came across a sold listing on ebay for a GEC #36 with mammoth ivory: $925. The #46 pattern is similar, but larger. GEC will not make any more knives with ivory and might soon drop mammoth as well. A total of 5 ivory #46 were made. It could be a long time before another one comes up for sale and $1500 has been the selling price for at least one of these. My hope to get $750 is very reasonable. This is my most impressive GEC and i am only selling it because i need the money.

I agree with what you are saying Roland- This is quite a fantastic price for this example- Rare and collectible from one of the best Cutler Manufacturers that exist today. wow that's a beauty!
