I wish I knew Steve, I bought it about ten years ago with several fixed blade hunting knives. It has awesome stag and the blade grinds are precise, I thought it was homemade but it is put together very well. Wish I had more information but that's all I know about it.

Dimitri: It looks almost like one of Bill Bagwell's early creations or maybe a Daniel Winkler knife. Just guessing.....

This arrived just in time for Christmas last week, fished it off the bay. Not without warts as indicated by the bent guard that is loose too. It's a Case small Bowie with Rodgers bone handles, 8 3/4. Case Bradford Pa on front tang, Case's Tested XX on the rear. Handle feels good in the hand, the blade is saber ground and 4 3/4 long. A sheath without any Case ID came with it, fits it very well. I don't believe it was ever used, certainly not since I have owned it. I don't know much about these but it is a big well built knife, I have a couple more and a few folders.

I forget the name of the two guys who started it but they were both custom knifemakers. The knives were not cheap either;if I remember correctly the Apache folder was about $50 back in the 1970's.You could buy a custom knife for that money then.The Bowie I got from Bob Frieda I think and whoever tried to do the engraving.....well let's just say they hadn't been practicing very long. The metal handled one I got about 10 years ago and it was one had never seen before.Smaller than the Apache in overall size it was definitely a Santee(California)made knife.I have a couple of Japanese made Rigids but they aren't even close in quality to the California made knives even though they are decent.
