Chief AJ

Recently acquired this piece in a collection of custom knives. Hoping to put some kinda of value on the knife but I don't know what route to go. Aside from the obvious Chief AJ saying that 40 were being made. I have had issues finding the maker of the knife. I have attempted to contact Chief AJ who is pretty old now and makes hunting slingshots but have had no luck.

I don't understand what or who "Chief AJ" is, and what the connection is between the guns & the knife ?
The knife looks like one assembled from a kit: pre-ground & heat treated blade plus handle slabs to mount & polish.
