Great knives everyone.

eveled,
Is the crown end of your knife painted black? If it is, why is it done that way, and does it rub off on your hands or clothing? Thanks.

It’s the way it came from Buck. It doesn’t seem to be paint and it doesn’t rub off. It does seem darker than it should be. When I look at redriders in the first post I kind of want to take mine to a belt sander.

How about some "faux crown stag"? Found this little letter opener awhile back.

Maybe they (Buck) dyed it that way? ::shrug::

This is probably my favorite crown stag I have.
Hess knives calls this the frontiersman. I've been told GEC makes the blades for them.
7" blade of 1095 and over 12" overall .

I took the plunge and took a sander to it. I like it better now.

My first Bowie. Crown stag from a deer my father shot 75 years ago. 15" O/A. That tine on back of handle is in the perfect spot to make it stand up like that and is comfortably behind the pinky in a grip. I call it Big Daddy.

Very nice Bill! Do you have a picture of the end of the crown? Is it rough or smooth?

Stag is 5 1/2 and the overall knife is 13 inches. A guy at a small gun show wanted $65 for it. I figured the stag was worth that even without the knife. I have no idea who made it and it's unmarked. ____Dave
