Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
Re: Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
Probably not what most people think of as a bird trout knife, but this old Brusletto was given to me years ago by my best friend picked up in Norway, or it was given to him by someone from Norway, he couldn't remember precisely. Even though it's not a typical bird and trout pattern this knife is definitely cleaned its fair share of trout!

Just my uneducated opinion but I think the top one is a fillet knife.

Here is a West Cut, not a true Bird and Trout knife, but in the Bird and Trout family. It is a K3 pattern with a 3 3/4 in blade. Sheath probably not original, but from the time period. Not a mark or pattern you see a lot of.
Re: Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
I think these are what you're lookin' for; a Kinfolks330-3 1/2, and a case M3F SSP. Thanks

I only have two, both are Seki made, of course. The first one is a white steel Damascus made by one of the up and coming knife masters in Japan named Yuta Katayama. The other is a Moki made B&T.

The K1,2,3 all fall in the B&T grouping.thefarside wrote:Here is a West Cut, not a true Bird and Trout knife, but in the Bird and Trout family. It is a K3 pattern with a 3 3/4 in blade. Sheath probably not original, but from the time period. Not a mark or pattern you see a lot of.
How about a shot at the snap on the sheath? That "may" be the original sheath.

I certainly think that they count. However, opinion is divided as to whether you get to use the corkscrew if your hunt is unsuccessful.

Picked this one up from our own 'Sweetwater knives' (Ray) and it is sweet. Love how the sheath closes. Even had the original sales receipt in the box.
Ray is always a great guy to deal with.

Bookmarked means that if the two handles were laid side by side the grain would be mirror imaged. I think.

To me those are all small hunting knives. For rabbits and squirrels. A bird and trout knife in my eyes is a Marbles with the metal handle and loop.
Thanks for opening my eyes to the broader definition of the bird and trout pattern.

Re: Bird and Trout, CASE, etc. show them
If you had a solid piece of wood and cut in half , then put it on a knife side by side they would be "bookmarked". The grain would show up as before it was cut, just the full tang separating the two pieces. TerrySteve Warden wrote:Sweeeeet!!TripleF wrote:WESTERN L48ABG rehandles with bookmarked cocobolo
