Re: Epic STAG THREAD
That certainly qualifies as epic stag.
Re: Epic STAG THREAD
Lol! You guys are funny. It’s the thread that’s epic not the stag handles!
Thanks to all who have posted so far. I’ve been trying not to respond after every post. “Nice knife”.
I love stag. When it’s done right it’s just plain awesome to look at and to use. I like that it’s never hot or too cold.

Nice Queen set! I have a couple of loose Queen kitchen cutlery but it's nice when you have the original box!buddyie22 wrote:091B3F73-FA10-48AF-B689-A87DDE308F83.jpegC350D236-613A-48CA-921C-750B009F1CAB.jpeg

This is my one and only stag handled fixed blade, made by one of our local custom knife makers Marty Ketcham from Humboldt, SD.

Re: Epic STAG THREAD
Marty makes some really nice knives. The one I have pictured is 52100 ball bearing steel and the handle material is elk stag. Oh, he makes a really nice sheath also. If interested, I can PM you contact info.Quick Steel wrote:Old Cutler. Your knife and sheath are stunning. Exceptional. Impressive. Can you tell I really like it?

Re: Epic STAG THREAD
I think Union Cut/KA-BAR used some of the most gnarly epic stag ever used. This model was called "Bearcat" in the old brochures and many have truly remarkable stag handles. Pics are better when clicked on to enlarge.

Magnificent! Those old blades were very cool, as well. Here's another Bearcat. First generation.
Re: Epic STAG THREAD
Nice!! We're not allowed to play with those things much back here in NY. I don't like the many hoops they'd make me jump through just to have one , let alone the hoops I'd have to jump to carry it anywhere. I do have a few nice black powder ones we are "allowed' to have here.
Re: Epic STAG THREAD
I don’t know how we switched to Rugers. But I’ll definitely play along. Here are the ones I have with Stags
Bearcat with stags from Sacks Peterson
These 1911’s have consecutive serial numbers and Rosevelt Elk grips.

Yes, those are excellent handguns. Is that a BUCK handled in crown stag? Oh, btw, sorry about the hijack. I will try to find some more stag knives.

Here is a Herman Williams, done before he signed them and done while the good stuff was easier to find.
And here is another one of his gems.
and one more, a daddy barlow.Re: Epic STAG THREAD
No worries about the hijack. I was happy to participate.tongueriver wrote:Yes, those are excellent handguns. Is that a BUCK handled in crown stag? Oh, btw, sorry about the hijack. I will try to find some more stag knives.
Yes it’s a Buck 119 crown stag from Copper and Clad.
Those are some beautiful folders.

Re: Epic STAG THREAD
Gunsil, that old stag to us old knifemakers is referred to as "popcorn" stag, almost impossible to find now days. Very nice! TR I like your Bearcat too! I am kind of a Ruger nut also. everyone that posted stag, great stuff!!::tu:: Terry
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
Re: Epic STAG THREAD
I have heard the "popcorn" term, thank you! KA-BAR used a lot of it on that particular model, and they in general used a lot of very nicely figured stag on a lot of their knives. This is a salesman's award given by the company to top salesmen, it is a fantastic piece of stag and a super rare item.
