I'm thinking about picking this up, but wanted to see if anyone could put a year and maybe a value on it. Handle needs some work..

It is a kitchen carver/slicer, looks like maybe with a custom handle to make it a fighter ala WW2 theater or home effort knives.

Thanks, Gunsil! Think it's worth at least $20?

Not my call. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I would like it more if it were factory, perhaps one could find one in old catalogs. Probably excellent steel that holds a good edge, if it had a more full blade it would look fantastic in my knife block as a kitchen user. It is certainly a beautiful handle. The blade has a lot of wear and it may not be my thing, but it may be yours. To some folks $20 is a lot, to others it isn't. Value of anything is what somebody is willing to pay. I'd say for $20 if you like it get it. I own some pretty odd knives, I just happened to like them when I saw them. Knife collecting is after all knife collecting and it is certainly a knife!!
