This one will hopefully be joining the menagerie within a week. Another Imperial "steer head" pocket knife. When I receive it, I'll give it the once over and post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

My latest acquisition for the menagerie or zoo. This "moose head" fixed blade knife, no sheath, from COLONIAL.
Please excuse the shadow on the blade in the first picture.

I bought this Imperial "moose head", fixed blade, no sheath, this morning. I should receive it within the next week. For $5 and shipping, I couldn't resist. The tang stamp is different from my other Imperial "moose head" fixed blade knife. It appears to need a good cleaning. I'll give it a thorough inspection and take appropriate action. I'll post my pictures in the proper location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

I bought this knife earlier this evening. An Ulster 55D "deer head" pocket knife, which will fit nicely into my menagerie or zoo. When I receive it, I'll clean it if necessary and I will post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

Skip, I really like your new Ulster 550. It appears to be the same knife as the Ulster 58OT Old Timer - do you think so? OH
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

The seller is misreading the stamp, it's a 55D - I've always assumed the 'D' was for deer. The 2 blade version is the 50D. That's one of the nicer examples I've seen lately and was close to throwing out a bid on that one myself. Nice score ::tu::

You're right on target there. When the first Ulster Old Timers came out - 50OT and 58OT they were built on the 50 and 55 frames. I have wondered why it became a '58' - seems like it should have been a 55OT. Another Schrade mystery...

Thank you Jason for correcting the pattern #. The picture wasn't the best, so I couldn't really make it out. I don't like asking the seller questions as they might get suspicious and raise the price or opening bid. I will correct the pattern # in my posts. Thank you again, Skip. ::tu:: ::handshake::

Thanks for the kinds words - I spent a silly amount of time digging into something that very few people would get excited about, but I had a lot of fun and it was something that I wanted to see added to the collective knowledge.

Today's mail delivery produced these two for the zoo. Another Imperial "deer head" with serrated main blade and another Imperial "moose head" fixed blade, no sheath. I bought this particular "moose head" because it has a different tang stamp than my other one and it has no fish scaler as the spine. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.

I'm putting this new arrival to the zoo in it's own cage tonight. It's an ULSTER 55D, 3 blade, "deer head" pocket knife.
It needed no cleaning. Click a picture to ENLARGE.

I bought this knife yesterday. It's another Imperial(?) "deer head" knife for the zoo. This one, besides the patent numbers on the tang, just says USA. The pictures are the seller's. When I receive it, I'll "try" to post MY pictures. But I haven't been able to upload MY pictures since the server switch.

I was stupid. I should have bought it for $20. I offered $15, the seller countered with $18 and I declined. STUPID! ::facepalm::

Joining the zoo sometime next week, is this U.S.A. stamped, "deer head" pocket knife. It looks like the blades are going to need some cleaning. When I receive it and after I give it the once over, I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

We've all been there before. The worst (for me) is the occasional knife that I just simply forget to bid on and then remember after the fact. At least you took a shot at this one.

That USA stamped Kameo you posted above might be the first time I've noticed a hollow grind on one of these. I just checked and all of mine have a flat grind. I like that blade - I'll be keeping an eye out for one. ::tu::

This evening I purchased this specimen, another Ulster "deer head", possibly a 55D pattern and will be adding it to the zoo sometime next week. It looks like there is a third line on the tang stamp. I'll know for sure when I examine it. The other 55D, for comparison, is at the top of this page. As usual, I'll give it the once over and post MY pictures. It appears to be in pretty nice condition. These pictures are the seller's.

I bought this, yet another, Imperial "Longhorn Steer Head" pocket knife today. I'll be adding it to the zoo, hopefully in a few days. I'll give it the once over when I receive it. It looks like the blades could use some cleaning. I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

This morning I purchased this Imperial "Moose Head" fixed blade knife with sheath. I bought this one because I don't have this style or pattern of fixed blade knife with this particular tang stamp. If I start collecting these for the color of the handles, I'll be in big trouble. I'll give it the once over when I receive it. The blade looks good, but it may get a very slight cleaning. It appears that the strap on the sheath is missing, but I didn't buy it for the sheath. I'll post MY pictures in the appropriate location(s). These pictures are the seller's.

My latest addition to the zoo arrived yesterday. An Ulster 55D "Deer Head" pocket knife. It is my second 55D, it has a different style main blade and a much different tang stamp than the other one (posted at the top of this page). It was in great condition and required no cleaning at all. The pictures are mine.

These two arrived yesterday. Each received a gentle cleaning and each is ready to join the zoo. Another Imperial "Longhorn Steer Head" pocket knife and another Imperial "Moose Head" fixed blade knife, with sheath. The "Moose Head" fixed blade is my fourth "Moose Head", but it is my first with this particular tang stamp on this particular blade type. The other one has the same tang stamp, but it has a fish scaler on the spine of the blade. You can see it in the last post on page 8. These pictures are mine. Click on a picture to ENLARGE.
