Wharncliffe Knives
Re: Wharncliffe Knives
I wonder if Lord Wharncliffe had any idea of the ripple effect his invention would have on knife collectors two centuries later?
Here's my latest Wharncliffe addition: A.G. Russell Stag Swayback Jack made in Maniago, Italy, using M390 steel.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Didn't I see somewhere that you had some trouble with that one?

Yes, jerryd, that is correct...the opening/closing action is not smooth and snappy...it walks with a limp and doesn't have much to say, i.e., slow walk & no talk.
I'm trying to fix the issues; but, in the meantime, it's pretty much just eye-candy.

Speaking of "eye-candy" (although these two are definitely more than just lookers)

Mahalo, Ivoryman & Tom (my fellow Wharncliffe junkies )
Here's another recent acquisition that I picked up in a trade with knifeaddict1965. (I should mention that this 6107(W) was not actually part of the agreed upon trade deal, but an unexpected add-on by a fellow collector who clearly understands my Wharncliffe addiction all too well. )

Fresh out of the oven and still warm. Great knife Q.
Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Yes, indeed, Floyd...Thank you...and believe it or not, it smells almost as good as fresh out-of-the-oven bread...I love the smell of oil on a new knife (although the smell of "burnt cream" no so much)

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Mahalo, Tom. I love all my Lansky1 Mini-T mods--but he's also done a few other interesting and unique Muskrat mods for me that I also love...his work is impeccable, high-quality, factory-looking (actually even better than factory; closer to "custom"). The best word I can think of to describe his Wharncliffe mods is "precision". Essentially, what he does is turn run-of-the-mill factory production knives into semi-custom, one-of-a-kind knives.
