Here's a couple of cool shields on a pair of Smooth Oatmeal Bone Case Russlocks that I sold a few years ago (but now I really wish I hadn't).

The blade etch on the Russlock with the Stetson shield is also the coolest blade etch I have ever seen. Man, how I regret ever selling this one!

That horseshoe shield is way cool. I think I've even seen it on a Rough Rider.

I tend to forget this thread is here until someone refreshes it. Acquired a Case 07 with a John Deere shield since the last time my brain was engaged.

Beautiful handle on that knife Dimitri ::tu:: ::tu:: ... I see the appeal for sure :D ... Kinda reminds me in a way of old San Franscisco knife maker style with abalone adornment in shield and fancy handle pin design (actually I’ve seen many bowies in photos from SF but not sure how many pocket knives I’ve ever seen from those makers - I know Will & Finck made all kinds of things such as corkscrews, lime squeezers etc) but I’m also guessing maybe Sheffield? - Was abalone used very much in Sheffield work??

These thick solid ebony handle slabs sold on Ebay last week for under twenty dollars.

They are not pocketknife handles, as they are drilled from the lower end to accept the round tang of a straight knife, most likely dinner knives.

I suspect a good knife maker or mechanic could saw these down to adapt to a folder, though.

Seller suggested they were from Herder.

I saved the pics for the shields.

Dimitri; the same seller had these "Rosewood" handles.

His User ID is here: https://www.ebay.com/usr/james32137?_tr ... 7675.l2559

A separate dealer had these shielded Wood handles.

His User ID is here: https://www.ebay.com/usr/jazzygambling? ... 7675.l2559

He had two other auctions with bone, stag, wood and composition handles. Some were for straight knives and some for folders.

All these auction items were attributed to Herder's.

You might follow their auction items for a bit to see if they list more like this.

I spent this morning going thru all 40+ pages & I didnt see this shield.
I was curious what it stood for? It looks similar to the US Army Adjutant Generals Corp insignia but perhaps it was some kind of boy scout shield? Thanks for your help
Kind Regards,
Mark

I didn't look back very far to see if this one had been previously posted but I like it a lot so one more time won't hurt anything if it has showed up previously.

Hi Q

It is different that's for sure. KABAR made a sheath with the bear in that pose, they occasionally turn up on ebay. It didn't go with this knife I don't think. Thanks for taking a look.
