What beautiful knife, Dimitri. I tell ya, those covers aren't coming off. :D

The cutlery focused background you used in your picture is really nice.
Nicely aged and colored, it fits just right for your knife. Great photograph!

Thanks Joe, they sure won't come off

Regarding the photos those are from the maker, the background is a page from and antique Sheffield knife pattern book!

I wish I could take nice photos like that! ::facepalm::

M.B., that's a fine pruning knife, but you know I appreciate the English paperwork snippet it's sitting on even more.

Any idea about this knife?
Nice knife, how long is it closed?

Made in France.

It’s about 4 inches long closed up.

Is the nail-nick how you can tell it is French?

Very interesting to see that they wrote right over the patterns.
That's the first time I remember seeing that in pattern books I have or have seen.
Here is a cut from an old German pattern book showing some unique models.

Very interesting. I have mostly associated the fish knife with Czech firms, and in fact, a Czech firm (Mikov) is pretty much the only company still making them. It is my understanding, that within Eastern Europe, they are traditional as a boy's first knife, and often used for mushroom hunting. I've not seen a German-made one, but I'm sure they exist. I found one on eBay in the shape of a fish, in the form of a bartender's knife (fins formed a cap lifter) with blade and corkscrew, but that's the closest I came up with.

That pistol knife is also odd, as it's something I mostly associate with cheap novelty knives.

cody6268, great comments, but I should respond outside this pruning thread since I'm taking it off track.
I'll start a new thread called "Figural Knives" for more information.
