What a pleasure to see the knives in this thread!

Dimitri, that French horticultural knife is interesting and unique. In my experience gnarly stag is a hallmark of European knives.

Glenn thanks for showing that old Wade & Butcher. Nice stag on it too!

Looking at my pile, the best contribution of vintage gnarly stag I can muster up is this early Case Tested whittler. The mark side is kinda plain but the pile side passes for gnarly IMHO. ::shrug::

I don't have any vintage knives to speak of, but here are some of my modern gnarly stag knives.

There are a lot of patterns that call for stag in the catalogs. But finding them I've found to be difficult. That's why most of my stag examples are in rougher shape.

This old English jack sold to somebody on Ebay this past week.

It is marked, SHIRLEYS / CELEBRATED / OIO CUTLERY
Goins dates that stamp circa 1865 and said they also made Bowie knives.

Talk about some gnarly stag. This stuff is gnarly.

Congrats on that one John ::tu:: ::tu:: ... Not sure why but somehow my auto eBay searches for these knives never showed it (probably because of key words that were used by seller) or I would have been bidding - holiday or not  :D ... glad you got it John ::tu:: ....

John, I apologize for stealing your thunder by posting the auction photos before you even received your knife. ::facepalm::

I will try to hold fire in the future until a reasonable time has passed.
