Thank you, Josh. That was an interesting read, and also enjoyed you sharing your personal connection to the area.Greenman wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 1:32 amRobesonsRme.com wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 9:14 pm Seems to me, Clay had an interesting backstory.
I think it was named after its founder's deceased son.
There are some older knife books, possibly LG-IV that suggested Clay knives were made by Robeson, so I had a representative sample or two. Later, an article was published in KnifeWorld Magazine that Clay had their own factory.
I sold my Clay knives.

I was born and raised in Allegany and Cattaraugus counties in western New York State. At one time my family owned property near Andover, NY (Allegany County). I had numerous family members, friends, friends of family, and family of friends who were involved in the cutlery industry in western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. As a child,I vaguely recall hearing about several knife factories in or around Andover. I found this article on the Allegany County Historical Society’s website. Perhaps it will be of some help…

So, you traded NY/PA for the Dark Side of the Moon? Interesting!
