Old Keen Kutter Knives
This trademark has a long history with knife manufacturers and many of the best knife companies made knives with this mark. According to Goins E.C Simmons started using the Keen Kutter trademark in 1870-1940, Shapleigh used it from 1940-60, and Val Test from 1960-65. So for over 140 years this mark has been used on their products and more specifically pocket knives.
Here is a nice old Keen Kutter marked Cattle knife. It has grooved bolsters, Nickle Silver Trim, jigged bone handles and an etched blade, what more could you want in an old pocket knife??
Let`s see your old Keen Kutter`s!

I'd arm wrestle you for that cattle knife!

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Here's Keen Kutter with two other knives. What a nice knife this is. Its secondary blade is almost like a fillet blade.
Very flexible. Some sort of plastic covers.

Yes it was Joe, look at the jigging pattern in the plastic, this was a Schrade productFRJ wrote:Do you mean my hunter was made by Schrade?

Well, that's pretty cool. They sure made a great knife. Actually it's one of my favorites.
That's great to know. Thanks alot.
By the way, a little off the topic of this nice thread, but do you know who made Marshall Wells Zenith brand knives?
Thanks.

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
New York Knife Co made a lot of the high grade Zenith knives. But like most contract brands other companies made them as well and they had cheaper lines too.FRJ wrote:Well, that's pretty cool. They sure made a great knife. Actually it's one of my favorites.

If it has jigged bone handles I can possibly identify the maker

Re: Old Keen Kutter Knives
Dimitri, I was looking at the schrade forum and I was wondering if my KK hunter was made before 1946 or after.
I'm gussing after, by Schrade Walden.
