Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
Re: Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
I'm working on using this first run beer scout in Ebony..just lent it to my brother to try it out for a while...he is more of a Spyderco guy..trying to convert him to the Traditionals

Re: Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
While I was going through this thread oohing and aahing I realized I had never posted any of mine here so here are a few old Empires, a J. Russel spatula and a Camillus easy open.

I really like that old Gardner, Joe. And the Maher & Grosh is pretty special as well! Very nice nutter, JKB! Greg, fabulous display of ebony handled knives, I really like the second Empire!

Re: Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
I don't think I ever did post any ebony handled knives here. It is one of my favorite woods. I have a few:
Challenge and Atlantic jacks Miller Bros. whittler Union jack Keen Kutter and Cattaraugus pens Henry Sears jack American Shear whittler Imperial utility which I recently rehandled in ebony

OC your use of few is too modest. Great looking old knives. Great job on the rehandle as well.

That Imperial utility I rehandled is one of the POS knives you sent to me.

Re: Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
OC you did a great job on it. My BIL gave me that one and several others that were found lying around his Dad's farm. His dad had passed and they were liquidating everything. Most were heavily oiled and surprisingly sharp. Glad you put it back into service.
Even better job cause it didn't look like much when it left here.

Re: Old Ebony Wood Handle Knives
OC, just texted with my BIL and sent him the picture of the refurbished knife. He said he can remember his Dad carrying either that knife or one like it. Said he liked having the screw driver and the beer opener. Also mentioned that he made 4 visits to South Dakota visiting Indian sites and places in Indian history. Funny to think that this knife might have been there before. Any way my BIL was pleased that the old knife was back in operation. Thank you.

Thanks guys, while it's hard to beat a nice deep jigged bone there is just something about the classic beauty of ebony.
