I used my hobby drill with a very, very small drill bit at very, very high rpm's and drilled a series of very tiny holes through the still unknown material along the length of the handle. Then I moved the bit from one hole to the next without removing the bit and the material broke up and fell out. The material on the bottom of the handle came off quite easily after that. I now have another decent looking, Geo Schrade, wire handle knife. The result is pictured below. :D
Would the knife even open and close properly with all of that plaster(?) stuffed in there? Great looking end result! ::tu::
Actually, the knife did open and close properly. The blade sat perfectly in a carved out groove in the plaster(?). It was just so ugly and it added considerable weight to the knife.
Did you look to see if that scout spoon was marked?

Remembered to check my spoon last night, it only says "STAINLESS."
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

That sounds about right. Like I said previously, I've never seen an older spoon that came with the wire handle knife and wire handle fork, with a maker mark/stamp. But then again, I'm only interested in the knives. Thanks for checking. ::tu::

Gotcha. ::handshake:: When I was looking for a decent set, I tried to find one with a spoon that looked the part.

Just got home with this one, another hawkbill pruner.
Gave it a very mild cleaning. Not in bad shape at all.
Also pictured with the other two.

I just bought this Geo Schrade hawkbill pruner. Hopefully I'll get it in a short amount of time, but it's coming from Canada.
Doesn't look like I'll have to give it much of a "cleaning." It will make a welcome addition to my wire-jack collection. I'll post
MY pictures when I get it. These are the seller's pictures.

Here is a BOKER/USA wire jack that I won at auction and picked up today. Has not been sharpened and would be near mint except for some light spots.

I bought my first Boker wire-jack hawkbill pruner a few days ago (the FIRST 4 pictures). I'll clean it up when I receive it and I'll post MY pictures here. These pictures are the seller's. I bought the other wire-jack hawkbill pruner a little while ago (the LAST 2 pictures). It's probably a Geo Schrade, hopefully it's a Boker, but I am not sure. I'll clean it up and post MY pictures here. These pictures are the seller's.

This BOKER wire-jack, hawkbill pruner arrived yesterday. My first pruner from BOKER. The tang stamp/etch is very hard to make out, but it is dead center in the last/bottom picture. Click the pictures to ENLARGE.

Another variation for my wire jack collection. A small (3 1/4") hawkbill with the 1926 tang stamp and yellow safety insert. It bears an etch of a florist as many do. Other than some pepper spots it's in excellent condition.

Thanks guys. These things are addictive. On another site I heard that the florist was founded in 1889, therefore the knife was from 1939 if it was truly a 50th anniversary knife.

Glad you liked it. You got it from me on ebay. I remember the sales building in downtown Knoxville and the very large green houses which were field trip destinations for our biology class. I still have the Boker in similar condition for sale.

This wire-jack, hawkbill pruner, from BOKER U.S.A., arrived Thursday. It looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I've never seen a black colored blade guard/spacer, but here it is. Could it have been re-painted? Yes, it could've, but it doesn't appear to have been. So now I have wire-jacks with red, green, yellow and a black blade guard/spacer.

Very clean with an extremely crisp tang stamp. Good catch.

It appears that the BOKER/USA is stamped on yours, but, the BOKER/USA is etched on mine.

On my other 2 BOKER, wire-jack, hawkbills, BOKER USA is etched and BARELY visible. Both are about dead center in each picture.
