Lee, yes those kits were for sale. They are even in some of the catalogs. They pop up on the bay every now and again. Many are not complete or to much money. There is some paperwork with them as well.
Joe, no worries I know what you meant. I’ve been called worse for sure. We better start talking about barehead jacks or we are all in trouble

That's definitely 3 KILLER looking knives! I like them all, but the coke bottle is my pick of the litter. ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
A pocket knife is still an intimate personal possession of the individual who carries it and consequently deserves the best of materials, finish and workmanship in its production. (Quoted from Boker's 1928 cutlery catalog).

Fantastic M&G examples, Roger. As if the knives weren't nice enough on their own, those etches put them over the top.

I just finished going through this thread from the beginning, great thread! I have been derelict in commenting since page 22. There have been a lot of beautiful old knives posted since then by JohnR, Mason, Joe (love that small Joseph Rodgers), Ken, Mike (Obsidian Edge), Greg, Roger (I echo Charlie's comments on Roger's collection), Barry, Mike (galvanic1882), James, Dimitri (great Cast Steel!), Lee, Olde Cutler, and thefarside.
