That is the first Barlow I have seen in a boy's pattern. They must be rare. Nice one.

Thanks David, only one I have seen.

You would think the Barlow pattern being inexpensive and a popular pattern in it`s day there would be more of them.

That's a nice example D! ::tu:: Still has a lot of the original brown paint on it, you don't see that too often. Great find! ::nod::

No, it's been pretty slim picking on these. I have probably 3 to 4 examples right now. Like yours, with the writing embossed on the metal handle.

Yeah, it runs in cycles sometimes they turn up for sale all at once and other times there are none ::shrug::

The metal handle ones are nice with the different embossing but I would like to find a jigged bone handle one! :)

There have been a few Dormant threads resurrected lately, so i thought this one should be given some oxygen, it hasn't seen the light of day for 7 years. For such a popular style that i am sure many of you would have had as your first knife, it is amazing how some of these threads get forgotten in the wash. These knives were just simplicity in all their glory, usually one blade with simple covers, hope to see some of yours see the light of day again " Boys and Girls ". ::tu::

Here are a few and a small Barlow that I guess you could call a boy's knife.Compared to an Old Timer. The one with the chain is an H.Boker & Sons from around 1915

Here is one whose condition indicates that no boy, of any age, had much chance to abuse.
