Love it Cudgee, sometimes those are the best knives to have on you.cudgee wrote: ↑Thu Mar 11, 2021 12:52 am This is a cheapie, found it at a stock feed store in a country town, no maker or country of origin but was only $15US, so i thought what the heck. I tru-oiled the covers and had to straighten the blade edge on a stone, had a slight curve in it. I am in no way comparing it to some of the fine cutlery being posted, but it is a nice little EDC work knife, and i now have it razor sharp, and it keeps an edge a lot better than some of the lot more expensive knives i have.

Here's one of the "New Queens" made in China (SMKW). I must admit that I was hesitant to take the risk after my experience with the SMKW China Mini-Trapper fiasco. But, I decided that for $16.75 I could afford to gamble on it and, truth be told, I'm very glad I did because this China-Queen Amber Sawcut Bone Wharncliffe is actually very well made; certainly comparable to (possibly even slightly better than) any Rough Ryder I've owned. I have no complaints and, in fact, I quite like it...a lot! (Closed Length = 3½")

I think you'll be happy with it, jerryd, despite having only one blade (I know you're more of a two-blade guy). In fact, I liked mine so much I actually bought a second one (one for each hand!). In the interest of full disclosure, however, I must admit that this knife is not entirely flawless; as you can plainly see, it does have a cockeyed shield placement (I noticed the same thing on the one Treefarmer got as well)--which really is not that big a deal (except, of course, to a certain OCD Monkey who can always manage to point out the single thorn on the stem of an otherwise beautiful rose ) Fortunately, the shield on my second one is not tilted, so there's a chance yours might be OK too.jerryd6818 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 5:20 pm Aww ~Q~, you silver tongued devil. Re: Wharncliffe Knives
There were four things that outweighed the single blade. First and foremost was of course the Wharncliffe blade and then there was those sawcut bone handles. The price had a large impact on my decision but the thing that put it over the top was ~Q~'s opinion of the knife. That sealed the deal for me.QTCut5 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 6:55 pmI think you'll be happy with it, jerryd, despite having only one blade (I know you're more of a two-blade guy). It's here. It avoided the porch pirates and was in the mailbox when I got home yesterday. Excellent!! If you don't have an aversion to China made knives, (along with ~Q~) I recommend it.

Don't know why they call it a Hedgehog, but they picked a good looking equal end cigar pattern.

Re: Wharncliffe Knives
Saw this little (2½" closed) Made-in-Japan United Cutlery UC426 Wharncliffe half-whittler and just couldn't resist buying it even though it's a full inch shorter than my preferred size. I love the Scagel-style open pull, but the size renders this knife pretty much useless to me for all practical purposes. It's fine for the Wharncliffe collection, though. If it had a lanyard hole it would make a good keychain knife.
For size comparison: here it is next to a 3½" Case 6107W Wharncliffe Mini Trapper:

With so few offerings sometimes you have search for hidden Wharncliff blades and release them.
Really nice old knives guys.
