Just got a call from my mother. This little beauty just showed up at her house. ::super_happy:: That's the third knife I have at her house now. Hope she mails them to me soon. ::hmm:: That also means I'm collecting knives on two continents. ::tu::

Anyways, it's a (1950's?) Shapleigh Hdwr. Dimond Edge Serpentine Pen Knife 2 3/4 inches (made by Schrade Walden). I hope you enjoy the pictures and If anyone knows more about this knife than I do, I'd love to hear it. ::tu::

Thanks for putting that nice little Shapleigh DE in here, Tom.
It is a beauty. A great little carry, I'm sure.

It would also look nice in Lee's " Homage to Traditional Pen Knives" thread if you were so inclined.

Beauty all the way around jxr1197 ::tu:: ::tu:: ... Just a guess on my part - but I think this was made under contract by Empire Knife Co for Shapleigh - The reason I say this is based on the long pull on master and how it opens into the swedge of the blade - something I noticed and seemed to be pretty consistent at least on the Empires I have see in terms of the long pulls - and my Empire-made Shapleigh cattle knife has the same long pull design.. again just my guess and opinion...

I agree with you. Before it arrived I was thinking it was a German Boker - the step bolsters threw me off and the seller's pics didn't show everything. When I got my hands on it I figured it was an Empire and searched around until I found a pic of an Empire with similar bolsters. Now I'll also think to check the long pull/swedge area if I come across another Norvell Shapleigh. Thanks for the tip. ::tu::

This pocket knife arrived yesterday. It is one out of a group of five pocket knives that I bought, but not for this particular knife. This is a SHAPLEIGH (D-E) HDW CO. B478, 2 blade, 3 tang stamps, 3 1/8" closed, advertising pocket knife. It says "CARDWELL WESTINGHOUSE" on one side and "FRICTION DRAFT GEAR" on the other side. If you Google the advertised company, there is information (railroad equipment manufacturer). I gave it a very minor cleaning, took some pictures and here it is.
